Event Associate

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be constructed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Responsible for coordinating vendors for applicable events and developing partnerships within the community 
  • Responsible for researching and implementing creative strategies for events and event promotions 
  • Responsible for developing event emails, public-facing event content, and other marketing content as needed
  • Effectively communicate amongst other departments as needed to execute fundraising events • Prioritize working cooperatively with all volunteers, recognizing the talent and commitment they bring to the organization
  • Work with others on the Development team to meet goals by providing input and creativity, and commitment to fundraising
  • Responsible for meeting event financial and strategic goals 
  • Facilitate other fundraising objectives such as birthdays, facility rentals, and others as needed • Responsible for fundraising events including but not limited to: o
  • Tree of Life  - Buddy Bingo -  Doxie Dash  - Dog Easter Egg Hunt  - Corgi Chase - Pucks N Paws Spayghetti (& No Balls) Dinner  - Dog Days of Summer  - Yappy Hours  - Cats N Mats Yoga  Sweat for Pets  - Others as developed.
  • Responsible for assisting with signature events as needed, including: o Raise Your Paw Auction  - Pedal for Paws  - Cat’s Meow -  Iowa Dog Jog  - Santa N Paws.
  • Mane Event Valentine’s Apples  - Others as developed
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience:
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in related major preferred
  • Minimum 2 years event planning or relevant experience is preferred 
Language Ability:
  • Ability to speak and write in proper English
  • Proficient in accurate spelling and grammar
Mathematical Skills:
  • Accuracy in all financials and numbers is required
  • Experience in budgeting preferred 
Cognitive Demands:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Detail oriented. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Analytical.

  • Position can be required to use hands, talk and hear.

  • Lifting up to 50 LBS.
  • Must be able to deal effectively with customer service issues.
  • Work may expose employee to odors, diseases of animals that are possibly contagious, bites, scratches, animal waste and moderate noise levels.
  • Long periods of standing.
  • Long periods of sitting.
  • Valid Driver’s Licenses with the ability to be insured through the Animal Rescue League’s insurance.
  • Work may require outdoors in high heat or cold environment on occasion.
