Job Description Summary

Enterprise co-founded Power Forward Communities (PFC), a landmark coalition with some of the country’s most trusted community development, climate, and housing organizations. It is purpose-built to decarbonize America’s homes and drive a market transformation that cuts costs, benefits renters and homeowners, and focuses on low-income communities nationwide. The EPA has awarded the coalition a $2 billion National Clean Investment Fund (NCIF) grant. Together with our coalition partners — Rewiring America, Habitat for Humanity International, Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), and United Way Worldwide — Enterprise will use this award to deploy a powerful combination of financing, market building, and community engagement to create healthier, safer, and more affordable homes.

The National Clean Investment Fund (NCIF), part of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), represents one of the most profound public investments in climate resilience in our nation’s history. With this award, Enterprise has been entrusted to help turn the nation’s most critical climate legislation into transformational housing legislation by ensuring hundreds of thousands of affordable homes are built or preserved.

The Director, Multifamily Outreach will be a leader within the market-building platform designed to build the capacity of owners and operators of multifamily affordable rental housing properties to prioritize beneficial decarbonization as they build, retrofit, and operate their properties. This position will develop, launch, and manage the outreach and education components of this program – a national program with local nuance. Ultimately, this is a tremendous opportunity to shape equitable affordable housing decarbonization.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, creative, and effective leader eager to support their colleagues, Power Forward Communities coalition members, and external partners in preparing for a changing climate. They will build and cultivate a team to deliver this work, collaborate frequently, and keep a keen eye on the big picture goal while iterating with effective delivery strategies. The position requires developing responsive outreach strategies, following through, tracking success, and adjusting strategies accordingly. Key success measures will include creating a comprehensive and meaningful outreach strategy across all national Enterprise equitable decarbonization activities, creating a distinctive approach for Enterprise all the while coordinating with PFC coalition members and other GGRF grantees, and ultimately achieving increased interest and ability for equitable decarbonization on the part of affordable housing owners. This position will require a strong candidate to create our own distinguishable outreach and education program, with nimble responsiveness to community needs and rapidly shifting market conditions.

The Director will report to the Senior Director, Building Resilient Futures.

This position may be based in any of the following locations: Washington, DC; Boston, MA; New York City, NY; Atlanta, GA; Cleveland, OH; New Orleans, LA; Chicago, IL; Detroit, MI; Denver, CO; San Francisco Bay Area, CA; greater Los Angeles, CA; Seattle, WA.
