Position: General Counsel

Department: Legal

Department/Area: Administration

Position Summary:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Employment law compliance
  2. Wage and hour law compliance
  3. Legal research
  4. Track proposed legislative bills
  5. Update employee handbook to comply with newly enacted legislation
  6. Provide HR guidance regarding leaves of absence
  7. Draft severance agreements
  8. Litigation management
  9. Contract review and negotiation
  10. Federal contractor compliance, including export controls and cybersecurity
  11. Provide IT guidance regarding implementation of federal contractor cybersecurity standards (i.e., CMMC 2.0)
  12. Corporate governance, including BOD resolutions
  13. California Consumer Privacy Act (i.e., CCPA) compliance
  14. Coordinate Cal/OSHA regulation compliance
  15. Annual insurance package renewal
  16. Property loss claims
  17. ERISA (i.e., 401(k) plan and employee benefit plan) compliance
  18. Handling of all legal matters that arise in the course of business

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Juris Doctorate (J.D) Degree
  2. California State Bar License (Active)
  3. 3-5 Years of Experience with a Medium Size Company/Law Firm
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Word/Excel
  5. Employment Law/Wage and Hour Law Experience Preferred

Reporting Relationships: Reports to President

Working Conditions: Office Environment
