Job Title: Lead Quality Assurance Technician

Location: Franklin Park, IL

2nd Shift: 3:30pm to 12:00am


Summary:

Responsible for monitoring food safety and quality assurance activities within a large food / meat manufacturing plant. This role requires someone with previous experience in QA/QC within Food Manufacturing. Please see below further details regarding the job responsibilities and requirements to be considered.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pre-operational inspections.
  • Monitor employee GMPs and report any violations.
  • Oversee CCP (Critical Control Point) and initiate corrective actions for deviations.
  • Calculate marination/ breeding pickup for products.
  • Provide the production department with product labels.
  • Verify metal detector functionality.
  • Monitor temperatures in cold storage and production rooms.
  • Receive ingredients per company policy.
  • Conduct daily operational inspections.
  • Identify and address food safety issues; initiate corrective actions as needed.
  • Collect samples as directed by QA Supervisor.
  • Participate in product evaluation activities.
  • Place product on hold for non-conformance and initiate corrective actions.
  • Maintain food safety and product quality documentation.
  • Comply with GMP, HACCP, SSOP, SQF, and other safety/quality standards.
  • Follow safety guidelines and keep the work area clean.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Skills/Requirements:

  • Experience in quality control within a meat manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of FSIS/USDA regulations preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience with internal and external quality audits
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, meat processing environment
  • Positive attitude and team-oriented
  • Comfortable working in a cold, loud plant environment.
  • Physically able to stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs frequently.
  • Capable of standing for long hours, performing repetitive tasks, and working weekends when required.
