Housing Helper Internship Program: “Building Future Innovators in Housing”
Overview
The Housing Helper Internship Program is designed to provide students at UCSB and SBCC with hands-on experience in the dynamic field of real estate technology and housing solutions. As an intern, students will work closely with our team to help refine and expand Housing Helper’s platform, focusing on marketing, operations, user experience, and customer support. This internship offers both professional growth and the opportunity to impact the local community by making housing accessible and hassle-free for students.
Program Structure
- Duration: 10-12 weeks (quarter/semester-based)
- Commitment: 10-15 hours per week
- Location: Hybrid (mix of remote and on-site work in Santa Barbara)
Internship Tracks
Interns can choose from several focused tracks based on their career interests and studies:
Marketing and Communications
- Assist with social media management, content creation, and email marketing.
- Develop strategies to engage students and local residents.
- Analyze social media and marketing metrics to measure success.
- Customer Experience and Community Engagement
- Provide support to users, answering inquiries and helping with any issues.
- Collect and analyze user feedback to improve the Housing Helper experience.
- Organize campus events and info sessions to promote Housing Helper.
Product Development
- Collaborate with developers to improve the app’s user interface and functionality.
- Conduct focus groups and gather insights to enhance user experience.
- Design features that cater specifically to the student housing market.
- Data Analytics and Business Strategy
- Analyze housing trends and app usage data to inform strategic decisions.
- Assist in creating reports and presentations for key stakeholders.
- Support decision-making processes with data-driven insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Real-World Projects: Interns will work on specific projects and initiatives that directly impact Housing Helper’s growth and operations.
- Collaboration: Students will collaborate with different departments, gaining experience in cross-functional teamwork.
Mentorship: Each intern is paired with a mentor who will provide guidance, feedback, and career advice.

By the end of the internship, students will:
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of the housing market and real estate technology.
- Develop practical skills in marketing, customer service, and data analysis. Learn how to apply classroom knowledge to solve real-world challenges.
