Senior Analyst/Associate, Real Estate Asset Management

Company:

Our client, a fast-paced, privately held real estate development and investment company based in the metro Washington, DC area, seeks a high potential real estate professional for a critical role supporting asset and investment management. The portfolio includes over 80 properties totaling approximately 8M square feet. The company has a strategic growth plan to continue acquiring and developing a diversity of asset types in the mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions including retail, multifamily, medical office and senior living. The senior management team is comprised of experienced and impressive real estate leaders and the organization will be going through meaningful transactional activity over the next three to five years.



Position:

This newly created position will report directly to the Head of Asset Management, who has a meaningful experience and is an excellent mentor. Given the entrepreneurial culture of the company, this person will get unique and valuable exposure to the CFO and Principals on special projects. In supporting the asset management and investment team, this person will be responsible for the analysis of real estate acquisitions, joint ventures, development projects, operating properties, and dispositions. This position offers a strong blend of quantitative and qualitive tasks. Initial specific core tasks will include, but not limited to the following:

• Create and maintain financial models for potential investments, joint ventures, and existing assets to determine key metrics such as return on cost, cash on cash returns, IRR, and equity multiple.

• Perform sensitivity and scenario analysis, including hold/sell scenarios and DCF analysis.

• Assist with all aspects of due diligence, including gathering and evaluating economic and market data.

• Review operating budgets and property financials, provide reviews, and highlight areas of concern.

• Update annual business plans including valuations and cash flow forecasting

• Produce quarterly investor reports.



Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics or related field.

• 2-5 years of progressive, relevant experience in commercial real estate asset/investment management or acquisitions.

• Advanced knowledge of Excel and ARGUS highly preferred.

• Ability to be in the office on a hybrid schedule.

• Understanding of the macro and micro drivers of real estate values. Ability to underwrite transactions and monitor portfolio investments.

• Institutional real estate experience preferred, not required.

• Familiarity with multiple asset types and commercial leases.

• Positive attitude and desire to take ownership of work product type.

• Entrepreneurial mindset with excellent written and oral communication skills.
