Our client, a cutting edge battery company with a focus on green energy, is looking for an R&D Manager to join their team and help build their latest state of the art facility in Texas.


Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced R&D Manager to lead our lithium-ion battery research and development initiatives, with a focus on advancing chemical formulations for enhanced battery performance. This role requires a high level of technical expertise in lithium-ion battery technology, extensive experience in intellectual property management, and strong leadership abilities. The R&D Manager will drive innovation by working closely with internal teams, external partners, and customers to support the company’s mission and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Innovation and Expertise

  • Lead the formulation and development of new chemical solutions to improve lithium-ion battery performance.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, integrating them into ongoing projects to drive continuous improvement.

Intellectual Property Management

  • Develop and implement IP strategies to secure patents for new technologies, ensuring the company’s innovations are protected.
  • Manage and expand the intellectual property portfolio, safeguarding valuable technological advancements.

Customer Solutions and Technical Problem Solving

  • Act as a technical expert for customer inquiries, providing prompt, insightful responses to solve complex challenges.
  • Lead and support resolution of technical issues in both lab and field settings to ensure customer satisfaction.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Guide and mentor a high-performing R&D team, fostering a culture of innovation and setting clear performance expectations.
  • Oversee talent development within the team, focusing on skills enhancement and professional growth.

Agile R&D Project Management

  • Utilize agile methodologies to manage R&D projects, ensuring flexibility in response to evolving market demands.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and timely delivery of R&D initiatives within budget.

Technical Center Operations

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the technical R&D center, ensuring resources are utilized efficiently.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align R&D efforts with overall business goals.

Global Reporting and Strategic Insights

  • Provide regular progress updates to global R&D leadership, contributing to GEO’s overarching innovation strategy.
  • Offer insights and recommendations to help shape the company’s future technological direction.

External Partnerships and Industry Collaboration

  • Establish partnerships with research institutions, industry experts, and collaborators to enhance collective knowledge and drive innovation.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, staying connected with the latest developments and trends.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 15 years in lithium-ion battery R&D, with a focus on chemical formulation and intellectual property.
  • Skills:
  • Strong expertise in patenting processes and IP management.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage an agile R&D team.
  • Adaptable to changing industry demands with strong problem-solving skills in lab and field environments.
