The Director of Women’s Philanthropy will be a key member of one of Boston’s most dynamic development teams. Women’s Philanthropy is a hallmark program of the Federation system and in the past decade CJP has been working to evolve and grow this network to respond to the needs and priorities of today’s Jewish woman. The Director will be a dynamic, creative and innovative leader who can marry fresh ideas and new voices while honoring and respecting an incredibly important legacy program.

The Director will report to the VP of Philanthropic Connections and be part of the PC team, a team that focuses on engaging donors and prospects in service of philanthropy and leadership pipelines. The PC team uses communications, events, immersive travel and leadership opportunities to build and strengthen our donor base. The PC team is one of 5 critical teams in the advancement department.

The Director will be the key partner to dozens of volunteer leaders and a collaborator with staff across CJP. The Director will be the external face of Women's Philanthropy and CJP out in the community and will partner with many of our community organizations.

The Director will partner collaboratively with professionals across CJP including Advancement colleagues (Marketing & Development), S&I, Finance and others as needed.


Essential Functions:

  • In partnership with the VP of Philanthropic Connections, create strategic goals and plans for Women’s Philanthropy’s work, including measurement/tracking of progress against goals.
  • In collaboration with the WP team, members of Marketing/Events, S&I and volunteer leaders, the Director will design strategic tactics (events, programs, communications) for the Women’s Philanthropy Board that will drive towards noted goals.
  • Manage and support the professional growth and development of a Development Officer.
  • Manage programs, volunteer teams and professionals in connection to WP’s calendar of events and giving societies.
    • 4 WP Board Meetings
    • Program Committee Meetings as needed (1-3 meetings per program)
    • Direct program implementation may include, but not limited to:
      • Low Barrier to entry programming for women
      • Other programs and projects to support the goals of Philanthropic Connections or Women’s Philanthropy as needed
    • Project management/management of professional in areas that may include, but not limited to:
      • Pomegranate Society
      • Lion of Judah Society
      • Philanthropic Connections initiatives as needed
  • Manage a development portfolio, including face-to-face solicitations and follow up meetings as necessary.
  • Work with CJP colleagues and volunteers to strengthen existing strategies and programs and develop new ones.
  • Support CJP fundraising, donor development, and women’s philanthropy leadership in collaboration with Development colleagues.
  • Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.


Education:


Experience:

  • 5 years’ experience working in Development or related field.
  • Experience with philanthropic programs.
  • Proven ability to plan, implement and measure strategies and programs.
  • Proficient in Windows environment, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop trusting relationships.
  • Ability to work as part of a high-functioning team.
  • Ability to inspire and build support for new strategies/change management.
  • Ability to lean into complex relationships.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders (colleagues, volunteers, donors, community organizations).

Organizational Relationships/Scope:

  • Reports to the VP, Philanthropic Connections. Has one direct report.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid Work Schedule: Tuesdays and Wednesdays in office work is required; Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays remote work option applies.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods, much of which will be working at a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Working occasionally on weekends and nights is required.
