As the Vice President of Finance and Investor Relations, you will play a crucial role in developing and executing our financial and investor relations strategies. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will focus on optimizing the company's financial operations, managing capital allocation, and ensuring transparent communication of financial performance to the investment community. Your role will be pivotal in building strong relationships with investors and shaping our investor relations strategy to support the organization's growth and financial stability.
In this strategic position, you will work closely with the CEO & CFO to implement financial strategies, oversee financial reporting, and manage key investor communications, including earnings releases, roadshows, conference calls, etc. Your expertise will be critical in fostering relationships with shareholders, analysts, and institutional investors, enhancing the company's profile in capital markets.
Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Planning
- Partner with the CEO & CFO to shape and execute long-term financial strategies that drive growth including raising capital in the debt and equity markets.
- Oversee capital structure management, balancing debt and equity financing.
- Support the finance function in the development, review and execution of the overall business strategy with an emphasis on optimizing resource allocation based on ROI.
Investor Relations & Communications
- Develop and implement a comprehensive investor relations strategy aligned with the company’s financial goals, in collaboration with the CEO and CFO.
- Act as a primary contact with investors, shareholders, analysts, and institutional investors, while managing the relationship with the company’s IR and legal firms as required.
- Manage investor communications, including quarterly earnings releases, roadshows, and presentations, ensuring consistent, transparent communication of financial performance and future outlook.
- Ensure SEC compliance of all investor relations materials, including annual reports and regulatory filings.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as operations, product, and sales to ensure alignment on financial goals and strategic priorities.
- Work with legal and compliance teams to maintain regulatory standards and best practices in investor communications and disclosures.
- Mentor and develop corporate team members, fostering a high-performing collaborative culture.
Financial Operations & Compliance
- Support the finance function in FP&A activities with direct oversight over treasury matters for the company.
- Ensure financial reporting accuracy and timeliness in compliance with GAAP, SEC, SOX, and internal policies.
- Assist the CFO with corporate finance initiatives, including M&A activities and other special projects, to drive the company’s expansion.
Reporting & Best Practices
- Oversee the preparation of investor materials, press releases, earnings presentations, and other financial disclosures.
- Establish and maintain best practices in financial reporting and investor communications.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within finance and investor relations, optimizing processes for efficiency and compliance.
Market & Industry Insights
- Monitor market and industry trends to provide strategic insights to the CFO and executive team for decision-making and investor communications.
- Build relationships with equity research analysts and institutional investors, enhancing the company's profile in capital markets.
- Maintain investor relations strategy in line with the company’s competitive positioning, market conditions, and industry dynamics.
Knowledge
- Strong understanding of corporate finance, capital markets, and financial reporting, including SEC filings and SOX compliance.
- In-depth knowledge of investor relations practices, particularly in publicly traded companies.
- High level of financial and accounting acumen including financial modeling and analytic skills including providing meaningful competitive and market insights.
- Experience in working in companies with international operations is beneficial but not required.
Skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for conveying complex financial information to diverse audiences in a concise manner.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing investor relations in a matrix type environment.
- Ability to liaise closely with third party support firms (e.g., IR & PR) to ensure consistent and efficient corporate messaging in a cost-effective manner.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting (MBA or CPA preferred).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate finance or investor relations, with exposure to publicly traded companies preferably in regulated consumer products, pharmaceutical or manufacturing sectors.
- Proven track record of fund raising and managing investor relations in a publicly traded company.

In addition to those who opt out because they fear the compensation may be out of reach for them, we equally don’t want to miss out on conversations with candidates who are slightly over the range when in some cases, the total compensation, including factors such as flexibility and better health benefits, etc. may exceed expectations.
Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific worker location. For the state of California only, the range of pay for this role is between $180,000 and $200,000, again depending on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the individual candidate.
