Senior Project Manager/Estimator - T&D/Substation Construction


Location: Sacramento, CA (also Las Vegas, NV)


Position Type: Full-Time


Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Manager/Estimator specializing in Transmission & Distribution (T&D) and Substation Construction. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in our organization by managing complex projects, estimating project costs, and ensuring successful project execution. This individual will serve as a key leader within our team, based out of either our Sacramento, CA or Las Vegas, NV office.


Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management:
  • Lead and oversee the planning, execution, and completion of T&D and substation construction projects.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction, and procurement teams to align project goals.
  • Conduct risk management and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain high-quality standards and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.


  • Estimating:
  • Prepare detailed estimates for T&D and substation construction projects, including materials, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop accurate and competitive bids.
  • Review and analyze project specifications and drawings to determine scope and requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market conditions, subcontractor capabilities, and material costs.


  • Client and Stakeholder Management:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing concerns and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Facilitate clear communication with all stakeholders, including clients, team members, and vendors.
  • Present project updates, financial summaries, and schedules to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and trust.


  • Resource and Team Management:
  • Mentor and support junior project managers, estimators, and project engineers.
  • Develop and manage project teams, assigning tasks and responsibilities to ensure effective collaboration.
  • Ensure that teams are aligned with project goals and adhere to quality and safety standards.


Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PE) preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of project management and estimating experience in T&D and substation construction.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Proficiency in T&D and substation project specifications, design, and construction methods.
  • Strong knowledge of project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and estimating software.
  • Skills:
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.


Location & Travel Requirements

  • Position is based in Sacramento, CA or Las Vegas, NV.
  • Occasional travel to project sites and client locations may be required.
