Job Summary

The Medical Laboratory Specialist is responsible for providing accurate and timely laboratory results to support patient care and treatment. This role requires a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and a commitment to quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform various laboratory tests, including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, bacteriology, serology, and body fluids.
  • Ensure accurate and timely results, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide laboratory support and contribute to patient care.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from a two-year college or technical school.
  • 6 months to 1 year of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in a hospital or healthcare environment.
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician from the ASCP or AMT is preferred.

Work Schedule

  • Monday-Friday, 6:00 am - 4:30 pm and 7:00 am - 5:30 pm.
  • Weekend rotation, approximately once every 6 weeks.
  • Holiday coverage, approximately 1-2 times per year.
  • Call time, approximately once weekly and every 6th weekend.
  • Part-time, 48 hours bi-weekly.

Compensation

The hourly rate for this position is $31.75 per hour, with opportunities for career growth and professional development.
