Reporting to the President & Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer will be charged with overseeing all aspects and day-to-day operations of the finance and accounting areas for the Center, its subsidiaries and affiliated organizations. The successful candidate will prepare regular financial reports, analyses, budgets and forecasts to drive strategic decision making and goal setting, risk management, financial planning and analysis, compliance and internal controls in partnership with the President & Chief Executive Officer. The Chief Financial Officer will oversee all financial aspects of property purchases and construction projects and create policies and procedures to keep the organization compliant with government regulations and best practices.

Essential Job Functions

  • Oversee a team managing administrative and support functions including Finance, Budgets and Accounting for the Center, its subsidiaries and affiliated organizations.
  • Manage accounting and finances for property purchases and construction projects.
  • Prepare all financial reports, consolidated financials and analyses for review and approval by the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Monitor the cash position of the organization and plans for the maintenance of adequate funds through cash and other financial forecasts to meet ongoing operating and construction costs. Maintain relationships with multiple banks regarding investment of excess funds and overall deposit relationships.
  • Prepare budgets for programs, grants and contract proposals. Ensure that all funds are spent according to contract guidelines. Manage all financial programs, grants and contract audits.
  • Appraise the organization’s financial position, issue monthly financial reports and direct the preparation of operating reports for internal use. Work with outside auditors in preparing audited financial statements and annual information returns.
  • Coordinate with outside brokers, management and the Board to ensure that risk management at the organization is properly provided for.
  • Create accounting policies, procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper accounting records and to afford adequate accounting controls and services.
  • Monitor and access non-employee litigation and complaints to minimize exposure while resolving expediently.

Key Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree or advanced degree in accounting and a CPA license.
  • Six to 10 years business experience in accounting and finance; some experience in the non-profit industry preferred but not required.
  • A minimum of five to seven years management/supervisory experience.
  • Experience managing multiple audits of both the main organization and a number of subsidiaries.
  • Experience in affordable housing real estate is highly preferred.
  • Experience with Social Service organizations is preferred.
  • Understanding and experience in various government reporting requirements, insurance and payroll/employee-related reporting.

Hiring Range: Salary range is $250K - $300K and will be commensurate with experience. Weingart Center offers a competitive compensation and benefits package for this role.
