Job Title: Human Resources Manager
Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Key Responsibilities:
- HR Leadership & Strategy - Lead, manage, and innovate across all aspects of Human Resources, ensuring alignment with the plant’s goals and objectives. Serve as a trusted business partner to the Operations Director and senior management team, offering guidance on HR best practices and strategic decision-making.
- Employee Relations & Compliance - Foster a positive, inclusive, and union-free work environment by resolving employee concerns, promoting effective communication, and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. Proactively address and mitigate potential employee relations issues.
- Talent Acquisition & Development - Lead the recruitment and onboarding process, ensuring that we attract and retain top-tier talent across all levels of the organization. Partner with leadership to assess talent needs and implement targeted recruitment strategies. Support the development of our workforce through training programs that enhance employee performance and career growth.
- Organizational Development - Drive the continuous improvement of HR processes, policies, and systems. Recommend and implement innovative HR solutions that enhance the effectiveness of our operations and contribute to a high-performance culture. Act as a change agent within the plant, driving initiatives that promote organizational growth and efficiency.
- Coaching & Mentorship - Act as a coach to plant leadership, offering guidance on performance management, leadership development, and employee motivation. Facilitate communication between management and employees to strengthen relationships and promote a collaborative work environment.
- Compliance & Risk Management - Ensure full compliance with labor laws, OSHA regulations, and company policies. Regularly review and update HR policies to mitigate risk and ensure that the plant remains in good standing with regulatory requirements.
- Data-Driven HR - Monitor HR metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for greater efficiency. Develop data-driven action plans that drive business outcomes and improve the employee experience.
- Performance Management & Recognition - Oversee the performance appraisal process, providing guidance to managers on setting goals, conducting evaluations, and managing employee development. Coordinate employee recognition programs that celebrate achievements and contribute to a positive work culture.
- Collaboration Across HR Functions - Partner with the broader HR team (Compensation, Benefits, and Safety) to ensure competitive compensation and benefits packages, as well as a safe and healthy work environment.
Qualifications:
Education/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or a related field
- PHR or SPHR certification is preferred but not required
Experience:
- At least 7 years of experience in a Human Resources capacity, ideally within a manufacturing environment
- Proven track record of managing employee relations, talent acquisition, and HR compliance
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of HRIS systems and proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to travel up to 10% as required
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly manage and develop HR staff, providing mentorship and support for their professional growth
- Oversee and guide supervisors and administrators to ensure the efficient functioning of the HR department
