  • Conduct routine animal care tasks including cage cleaning, food and water replenishment, and health monitoring.
  • Prepare and submit necessary documentation such as records, census sheets, room logs, cage cards, and inventory lists.
  • Ensure thorough sanitation and decontamination of all facility areas.
  • Adhere to room entry protocols and biosafety procedures.
  • Dispose of waste in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and designated waste streams.
  • Receive, identify, and properly house incoming animal shipments following SOPs.
  • Maintain and manage animal racks and support equipment.
  • Assist with the ordering, receipt, and stocking of supplies and inventory.
  • Perform basic animal health treatments under the guidance of veterinary staff.
  • Understand and comply with SOPs, safety procedures, and quality assurance guidelines for animal care at all levels of biohazard containment (BSL-I and BSL-II).
  • Conduct daily health surveillance of animals, reporting any abnormalities in animals or their environment to clients, veterinary staff, and supervisors.
  • Maintain an accurate daily census of animals in assigned rooms.
  • Separate and sex weanling animals into appropriate cages.
  • Humanely euthanize animals as necessary or requested.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned and under supervision.
