Job Summary

Under the direction of the ACP Animal Resources Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the physical environment for a group of assigned laboratory animals. This includes performing routine animal health-related tasks, basic animal husbandry, cage washing, and assisting with rodent colony maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine animal health-related tasks, including recognizing normal and abnormal body functions in a variety of laboratory animals.
  • Operate computer systems to maintain records on animal deliveries, print, and maintain all cage identification.
  • Assist with rodent colony maintenance, including breeding, weaning, and other related tasks.
  • Work with a diverse group of people, exercising diplomacy and flexibility when interacting with a diverse and multi-national scientific staff.
Requirements
  • AALAS certification ALAT or higher is preferred.
  • A valid California Driver's License is required.
  • The position is contingent upon satisfactory background and DMV checks, as well as pre-employment physical examination clearance.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work in biohazard and radioactive areas, wearing protective clothing and equipment.
Compensation

The annual full pay range for this position is $47,335 - $60,322, with an hourly equivalent of $28.89. The hiring pay scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
