Our client, a broadcast media and entertainment company, is actively looking for a Network Technician (Streaming) to join their Global Quality Engineering team in NYC This role is onsite so local candidates are required.


***This is a 1 year initial contract with the opportunity to convert based on performance***


The Global Quality Engineering team's focus is on robust testing & ensuring seamless integration across all streaming platforms and the Lab Infrastructure Technician will play a critical role in supporting the Network & Labs operations, which provides the essential infrastructure for testing applications. This person will work closely with the Lab & Network Manager to build, maintain, and support the lab environments essential for testing.


The day to day will involve lab hardware setup, including building device racks, managing network infrastructure, and ensuring all lab equipment is ready to support high-quality streaming tests. Expertise with A/V equipment and previous experience in a streaming lab setting will be crucial in DAAS capabilities, ensuring smooth lab operations, and enabling high-bandwidth testing


Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, and maintain device racks with up to 30 test devices per rack, supporting the company's main streaming app across all platforms
  • Run, test, and manage network cabling, including fiber optics, to ensure uninterrupted high bandwidth streaming and testing capabilities
  • Set up, configure, and troubleshoot AV equipment, including testing TVs and streaming devices, to maintain optimal testing conditions
  • Configure and maintain network switches to support Quality Engineers' testing requirements and ensure secure, high-speed connections across labs
  • Provide hands-on support to the Quality Engineering teams in using the lab infrastructure effectively, troubleshooting network issues, and ensuring uninterrupted access to remote testing tools
  • Maintain detailed records of equipment, configurations, and maintenance schedules
  • Document standard operating procedures for lab setup, network configurations, and AV system management


Required Skills & Experience

  • BS degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or other technical discipline
  • 3-5+ years of experience in a streaming testing lab or similar environment, including hardware assembly, network cabling, and device management
  • Proficiency in configuring network switches/routers (Brocade and/or Arista is preferred), VPNs, setting up and testing various types of network and AV connections and understanding network security best practices (Cisco experience/knowledge is preferred)
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, network, and AV issues, with a focus on maintaining uninterrupted testing conditions
  • Certififications in network management (ie CompTIA Network+, CCNA) are a plus
  • In-depth experience with streaming technology or media testing is a plus
