Summary:

The primary function of a Human Resources Specialist is to plan, direct, and coordinate human resource management activities within the organization. This role aims to maximize the strategic use of human resources and maintain various HR functions. Responsibilities include employee compensation, recruitment (policy-related), personnel policies, and regulatory compliance.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Advise managers and employees on state and federal employment regulations, collective agreements, benefit and compensation policies, personnel procedures, and classification programs.
  • Evaluate job positions, determining classification, exempt or non-exempt status, and salary.
  • Prepare occupational classifications, job descriptions, and salary scales.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining personnel records and handbooks.
  • Prepare reports, such as organizational and flow charts, and career path reports, to summarize job analysis and evaluation and compensation analysis information.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and customer service abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Knowledge of legal policies and procedures related to hiring practices (e.g., equal employment opportunity and affirmative action).
  • Knowledge of benefit and pay-scale systems.
  • Proficiency with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Workday.
  • Familiarity with Zendesk (ticketing system) and Five9 (phone system).

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience required.
  • 0-2 years of customer service-related experience required.

Additional Notes:

  • Mostly remote position with the option to work in the office if necessary (e.g., power or internet outages at home).
  • Candidates must be local to Memphis, TN.
  • Initial assignment is for 3 months, with the possibility of extension. Currently, there is no option for a permanent position.
  • Work shift is 9 am-6 pm CST, with occasional shifts from 8 am-5 pm depending on workload.
  • Seeking someone well-versed in customer service, who enjoys taking calls and is a quick learner to get up to speed before the end of the month and February when W2 calls begin
