The Senior Director of DevOps is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the DevOps strategy, implementation, and ongoing evolution to support a scalable, reliable, and secure environment for web & mobile application development and delivery.


This role will play a critical role in driving DevOps and CI/CD adoption across engineering teams, focusing on automation, collaboration, security and integration to achieve faster delivery of high-quality products. The Senior Director will work closely with leadership, engineering and IT teams to implement best practices, ensure system reliability, and drive operational efficiencies across the entire software lifecycle.


As a key leader, this position requires a combination of technical acumen, strategic vision and effective people management skills to foster high-performing DevOps, DevSecOps, and Platform Engineering team(s).


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

Operational Oversight & Guidance - 60%

  • Define, implement, and continuously improve the DevOps strategy, including CI/CD pipelines, automation, monitoring and incident response.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with engineering, security, IT, and product teams to promote DevOps culture and best practices.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of highly scalable, resilient, and secure cloud infrastructure.
  • Identify and implement tools and processes for seamless code integration, automated testing, and continuous delivery.
  • Drive automation initiatives across the development lifecycle to reduce manual processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure system reliability, availability, and performance through proactive monitoring, incident management and root cause analysis.


Team Management - 40%

  • Hire, lead, mentor, and manage a team of DevOps engineers, providing guidance on career development and continuous learning.
  • Interviews and selects candidates for hire; implements associate engagement strategies.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of DevOps initiatives – inclusive of meeting quarterly SAFe PI Goals.
  • Participates in annual Succession Planning and Talent Review planning.
  • Creates and delivers associate corrective actions and performance improvement plans as needed.


Strategic Planning - 20%

  • Manage and optimize cloud and infrastructure costs while ensuring compliance with budgetary constraints.
  • Participate in strategic decisions about technology, definition, and implementation of technology products with emphasis on the internal and external customer journey and experience.
  • Monitors service delivery, solicits feedback from the product owners, and ensures excellence in service levels.


SECONDARY FUNCTIONS (IF APPLICABLE)

  • Stay current with emerging trends and best practices in DevOps, cloud computing, and infrastructure automation
  • Participate in architecture and design discussions, providing guidance on DevOps principles
  • Advocate for process improvements & innovation within the DevOps team & across the broader engineering organization
  • Contribute to corporate strategic planning, supporting efforts to scale and enhance the company's technical capabilities
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and collaboration across all levels of the team.
  • May work on special projects or other duties as assigned.


SUPERVISORY/BUDGETARY/EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION RESPONSIBILITY

  • Manage a team of 1-10 exempt direct reports
  • Communicates with external vendors and service providers
  • Assists VP, Technology in department budget planning and administration


QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field required.
  • Advanced degree (Master’s or MBA) is a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in IT/Engineering with a strong focus on DevOps, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) at scale.
  • Demonstrated expertise in CI/CD practices, automation frameworks, and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Certifications in relevant cloud platforms (Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect) preferred.
  • DevOps-related certifications (e.g., Certified Kubernetes Administrator, CKA, Azure DevOps Engineer) are highly desirable.

  • Proficient in scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.) and experience with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Azure ARM Templates)
  • Proven track record in managing and growing high-performing DevOps teams with a focus on employee development
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to drive root cause analysis and make strategic decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, capable of conveying complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.


Ability to balance technical requirements with business objectives, optimizing cost and efficiency.

• Understanding of security best practices for infrastructure, cloud, and DevOps processes.

• Ability to stay flexible in an ever-evolving technical landscape, adjusting strategies to support business goals.

• Working knowledge of Salesforce or relative CRM systems.
