Together, these platforms deliver a seamless, scalable solution, revolutionizing youth sports and tournament operations with cutting-edge tools and opportunities.


Role Overview: We seek a Product Designer to lead the design and user experience for both Fastbreak Connect and Fastbreak Compete, focusing initially on web-based platforms with planned mobile development. You will be crucial in designing interfaces for young athletes seeking opportunities and tournament operators managing events. As a critical team member, you will collaborate with both platform teams and other product designers to enhance usability and ensure the platforms meet the needs of youth athletes, sponsors, tournament operators, event directors, and media partners.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Connect and Compete teams to create cohesive experiences that bridge youth athletics with sponsorship and tournament opportunities while maintaining the Fastbreak design ecosystem.
  • User Research: Conduct in-depth user research with youth athletes, sponsors, tournament operators, event directors, and media partners to identify key needs and challenges across both platforms.
  • UX Design: Develop wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that reflect a user-first approach and align with our mission of empowering youth athletes while serving tournament operators.
  • Interaction Design: Design intuitive navigation and interaction patterns that work for young athletes exploring opportunities and tournament operators managing complex workflows.
  • Usability Testing: Plan and conduct usability testing with diverse user groups, from tech-savvy youth to tournament administrators, iterating designs to ensure they meet all user expectations.
  • Design System Development: Build and maintain a scalable design system that ensures consistency across both platforms while accommodating the unique needs of youth sports engagement and tournament management.
  • Optimization: Leverage user feedback and analytics to refine platform features, improving athlete opportunity discovery and operator efficiency.
  • Future-Ready Design: Create scalable designs with a clear roadmap for transitioning both platforms to mobile applications, which is essential for reaching today's youth athletes.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in UX design, with a portfolio showcasing successful web-based SaaS projects. Mobile design experience is a plus.
  • Skills: Expertise in tools like Figma, Sketch, and Adobe Creative Suite; proficiency in prototyping and user testing tools.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, interaction design, and usability best practices, particularly for youth-focused platforms.
  • Research: Demonstrated ability to conduct qualitative and quantitative user research across diverse age groups and user types.
  • Communication: Exceptional collaboration and communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Domain Expertise: Familiarity with youth sports, tournament operations, event management, or sports technology is highly desirable.
  • Problem-solving: Analytical thinker with a keen eye for detail and the ability to translate complex workflows into intuitive designs that work for young athletes and tournament operators.
