Who we are seeking to join our team

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented scientist to establish our single-cell omics capabilities for the study of ferroptosis at Kojin Therapeutics. The ideal candidate will have a background in cellular biology, molecular biology, and bioinformatics, with a strong focus on single-cell techniques. This role will involve designing, executing, and analyzing single-cell experiments to understand cellular heterogeneity and its implications for ferroptotic cell death in cancer and immune and inflammatory diseases.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and clearly articulate key biological questions regarding cellular ferroptosis sensitivity and response, and design single-cell experiments to address them.
  • Develop a strategic plan to adapt and implement various single-cell omics technologies for studying ferroptosis and build out required infrastructure (in-house or through CROs and collaborators).
  • Develop and optimize protocols for single-cell isolation from various tissue samples.
  • Perform (and/or work with CROs to perform) single-cell omics assays, such as single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq), ATAC-seq, and imaging-based spatial techniques.
  • Analyze single-cell data using bioinformatics tools and software, including cell-type annotation, clustering, and differential expression analysis.
  • Interpret complex datasets to derive meaningful biological insights and generate hypotheses for further study.
  • Collaborate with computational biologists to develop custom analytic workflows.
  • Work closely with researchers from other disciplines, including ferroptosis biology, pharmacology, and chemistry, to integrate single-cell data into broader research projects.
  • Present findings at internal meetings, conferences, and in peer-reviewed publications.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of experimental procedures and results.
  • Mentor junior scientists and provide guidance on single-cell experimental design and data analysis.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Genomics, or a related field and post-doctoral fellowship.
  • 5+ years of postdoctoral experience applying single-cell isolation techniques and various omics technologies.
  • Proficiency in bioinformatics tools for single-cell analysis and programming languages such as R or Python.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a track record of scientific publications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience applying single-cell techniques in a drug-discovery setting.
  • Experience in cancer biology and/or immunology, inflammation.
  • Experience in ferroptosis and/or lipidomics is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with single-cell multi-omics approaches.
  • Familiarity with laboratory automation and high-throughput screening is a definite plus.
