Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager with expertise in Fiber Optic Networks to lead a high-performing engineering team in the telecommunications industry. This role is responsible for overseeing the design, planning, and execution of engineering projects while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and driving operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have a background in fiber optic and broadband network engineering, leadership experience, and a passion for innovation and process optimization.


Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage engineering guidelines and processes for the Outside Plant (OSP) engineering team.
  • Build and lead a team of engineers to develop and deliver high-quality solutions for clients in telecommunications and broadband sectors.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and consistent delivery of engineering products, including plans, specifications, contracts, project schedules, status reports, and budgets.
  • Develop and implement status reporting systems and internal controls to manage personnel and operational costs.
  • Monitor and evaluate industry trends and emerging technologies in broadband to ensure compliance and expertise.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to team members, fostering professional growth and engagement.
  • Conduct site surveys as required.
  • Facilitate communication between engineering, sales, and customer support teams regarding network updates and future planning.
  • Determine optimal construction methods, including aerial, underground, or joint-use solutions.
  • Oversee project budgets, ensuring cost efficiency and financial accountability.
  • Track project expenses and provide regular financial reports to management.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, permits, As-Built maps, and detailed project reports.
  • Oversee private easement and right-of-way procurement processes.
  • Produce daily, weekly, and monthly status reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain communication with utility companies, local, state, and federal agencies.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5 years' experience in utility engineering, construction, fiber optics, or telecommunications.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Experience with fiber network construction and design preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.


Additional Information

  • Travel within Indiana is required for site surveys and engineering needs.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be necessary depending on business needs and project timelines.
