As one of the first hires in our growing team, you will play a critical role in shaping our scientific direction and driving our early-stage research and development efforts.


Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Associate to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with our founding team to develop, optimize, and deploy our DNA synthesis technology. You will have the unique opportunity to contribute to foundational experiments, troubleshoot challenges, and help build a culture of scientific excellence within the company. This is a great role for someone looking to quickly progress and move into more senior positions within the company.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, execute, and optimize molecular biology experiments focused on DNA synthesis.
  • Develop and refine protocols for the production and analysis of synthetic DNA, ensuring scalability and reproducibility.
  • Troubleshoot and solve technical challenges in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, including automation and bioinformatics experts.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of experiments, including data analysis, protocols, and results.
  • Contribute to the development of quality control methods and analytical techniques to ensure the accuracy and reliability of DNA products.
  • Assist in the preparation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other technical documentation to support product development.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to transition R&D projects to scalable production workflows.
  • Participate in team meetings, providing insights and feedback to guide the direction of ongoing and future projects.


Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience in molecular biology.
  • Strong laboratory skills with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and optimize experimental protocols.
  • Prior experience with PCR, cloning, and DNA quantification and analysis workflows.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, with experience using software tools such as Excel, Python, or R.
  • Ability to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to present complex data clearly and concisely.
  • Passion for innovation and a desire to be part of a startup that is pushing the boundaries of synthetic biology.
  • Authorized to work in the United States


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with sequencing workflows.
  • Experience with automated liquid handling technology.
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics tools for sequence analysis and design.
  • Experience with the design of experiments and statistical data analysis.
