Point of Sale Engineer

*12-18 month contract*

Hybrid: 1-2x a week onsite in Orlando


Optomi, in partnership with our premier client in the technology industry, is seeking an experienced professional to oversee the deployment, management, and ongoing support of complex POS systems, with a focus on Oracle Simphony or similar platforms, in high-volume production environments. This role requires a mix of technical expertise in POS systems, CI/CD processes, scripting, and database management, with a strong emphasis on compliance and security.


Key Requirements:

Core Skills:

  • POS System Management: 3-5 years in deploying and supporting large-scale POS systems, with a preference for Oracle Simphony. Skilled in system configuration, integration, and customization.
  • CI/CD Experience: Proficiency in Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or any relevant CI/CD technology.
  • Database Skills: Solid background in SQL and Oracle database management, with abilities in data analysis and query optimization.
  • Security Compliance: Knowledge of PCI compliance and best practices for securing POS systems.


Additional Skills (Preferred):

  • Oracle Hospitality Products: Familiarity with Oracle Property Management System, Oracle Database Platform, or related Oracle solutions.
  • POS Hardware Management: Hands-on experience with POS hardware setup (e.g., terminals, printers, card readers), including configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Operating Systems & Middleware: Knowledge of Windows OS, .NET applications, and IIS. Experience with API integrations and middleware is advantageous.
  • Cloud & DevOps: Familiarity with cloud-based architectures, deployment automation, and advanced DevOps practices.


Responsibilities:

Deployment Management:

  • Oversee POS system rollouts across various locations, ensuring alignment with project deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and design deployment strategies that meet business needs.
  • Manage and troubleshoot incidents effectively to maintain seamless operations.

System Maintenance & Support:

  • Continuously monitor the POS system's performance and implement necessary updates and improvements.
  • Provide technical support to end-users, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient operations.

Training & Documentation:

  • Develop training programs and materials for staff, guiding effective use of the POS system.
  • Create comprehensive user documentation to support ongoing training and system utilization.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Partner with IT, Operations, and other departments to align technological solutions with organizational objectives.
  • Act as the main contact for all Simphony POS-related queries and issues, ensuring clear and effective communication with all stakeholders.


Technical Skills Summary:

  • Experience: Demonstrated expertise in deploying POS systems in high-volume environments.
  • Software Skills: Deep understanding of Oracle Simphony POS, Oracle Hospitality products, and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager.
  • Infrastructure & Hardware: Knowledge of network architectures for POS, along with hands-on experience in configuring POS hardware peripherals.
  • Database Proficiency: Proficient in SQL and Oracle database systems for effective data analysis.
  • Operating Systems: Experience with Windows OS and .NET platforms.
  • Security & Compliance: Familiarity with PCI compliance standards and security measures for data protection.
  • API Integration: Experience with middleware solutions for system integrations.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in training and technical support within large enterprises.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of inventory management, reporting tools, and customer service processes is a plus.
