We research beneficiaries' needs to help our government clients better deliver on their missions, providing everyone at Nava opportunities to do meaningful, impactful work.Role OverviewThe purpose of Nava's Vice President of Engineering is to lead and grow the engineering organization by defining a clear vision that can design, build, launch, and operate public sector digital services, products, and infrastructure. The incumbent provides oversight to the engineering team from a delivery, growth, and talent development standpoint, continuously improving engineering practice to maximize value delivered to users and clients.Key Responsibilities
  • Directly contribute to capabilities planning using input from current and potential clients.
  • Drive organizational planning and strategy for the engineering practice.
  • Lead the engineering talent strategy with People Ops and Delivery Ops teams.
  • Define clear and compelling growth paths for staff.
  • Work with engineering leadership to improve internal training and effectiveness.
  • Cascade decision making clearly internally.
  • Develop engineering leaders to partner with Business Development.
  • Support the development of bids and pitches to position Nava as a leading firm.
  • Identify investments toward new engineering capabilities.
  • Track financials to ensure Nava meets financial targets.
  • Monitor the budget to manage growth costs.
  • Identify improvements in Nava's delivery approach.
  • Grow a highly aligned, high energy engineering practice.
  • Support operational excellence within Nava's engineering practice.
  • Foster technical knowledge sharing.
  • Ensure staff hit billable hours targets.
  • Strategize and coordinate engineering staffing and hiring.
  • Collaborate with engineering directors and technical leads.
  • Participate in interviews as needed.
Required Skills
  • Experience scaling engineering organizations to 400 staff and beyond.
  • Experience managing business dynamics in a professional services firm.
  • 10+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience.
  • Track record of delivering business results in rapidly-scaling companies.
  • Experience partnering with business development and finance departments.
  • Capacity to develop strong working relationships.
  • Confidence and proven communication ability.
  • High level of personal integrity and ethics.
Desired Skills
  • Government contracting experience is a plus.
