POSITION SUMMARY
Oversees and maintains media licensing arbitration candidate and external agency accounts to resolve outstanding balances, manage bankruptcy notices received and general account management.

LOCATION
Nashville, TN office. BMI has transitioned back to working in the office on a regular hybrid schedule. At present, most team members are expected in the office three (3) days a week. Decisions regarding future transitions will take place in phases as BMI continues to closely monitor COVID-19 as employee safety is our priority.
 

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Essential Functions: which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.

  • Contacts decision makers on arbitration candidate accounts, via e-mail and telephone, to resolve outstanding balances. Obtains payment, payment plans, or settlements to resolve balances.
  • Monitors FCC website on accounts placed with BMI Legal and External Agencies for assignments, transfer of control, off air, and call sign change filings.
  • Works with Licensing to resolve contract issues that prevent collection.
  • Reviews electronic arbitration files, received from internal collection department, for accuracy and enforceability before forwarding to BMI Legal for attorney assignment.
  • Processes BMI Legal arbitration file placement acknowledgments and requests for affidavits and account financials for arbitration hearings.
  • Processes requests for closure of arbitration matters in CRM system as directed by management or BMI Legal.
  • Responds to BMI Legal requests for assistance and research, updates documents, and account adjustments for both arbitration and bankruptcy matters. Reconciles account balances, generates account statements and invoices.
  • Files Bankruptcy Proof of Claims, monitors inbound notices from bankruptcy court about pending cases for further action required, and acts as a liaison with BMI Legal regarding any documentation related to proof of claims.
  • Creates Post Judgment and Post Bankruptcy accounts in CRM per established procedures.
  • Coordinates placement of accounts with external agencies as directed by management.
  • Processes external agency and BMI Legal remittances, and updates CRM system accordingly.
  • Responds to external agency and customer correspondence and emails.
  • Prepares and submits write-off cases, accounting adjustment cases, and status change cases per established procedures.
  • Notarizes legal documents.
  • Reviews monthly external agency invoices for accuracy and submits for approval to pay.
  • Regular attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Paralegal educational background desired.

Experience: Minimum of 1 year of collections or customer relations experience with a focus on customer service and account resolution. Paralegal background a plus.
 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Notary Public or the ability to become one.
  • Experience in participating in cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize activities, multi-task, and follow tasks to completion within established deadlines.

  • Negotiation and collection skills
  • High level of proficiency with excel and other Microsoft Office Applications
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports, licensing agreements, and legal documents.
  • Ability to work independently and with good judgment.
  • A strong focus on meeting deadlines and regular attendance.

SALARY RANGE
The specific base salary offered to a successful applicant will be based on individual qualifications, skills, experience, and education. The pay range is subject to change at any time based on various internal and external factors. The position may also be eligible for one or more performance-based bonuses.
