Job DescriptionTurner & Townsend are seeking an experienced construction professional who specializes in Civil, Structural and Architectural (‘Core and Shell’) construction to work with a key technology client on a large-scale Data Center construction program.
Job Requirements:
- Work effectively and negotiate costs with Contractors.
- Use the appropriate estimating tool (client tools, customized estimating spreadsheets, industry estimating software, benchmarking, etc.).
- Perform all aspects of estimating, analysis and verification of contractor costs.
- Manage cost checks and carry out valuations on larger projects, and ensure timely and accurate cost checking, and valuation process.
- Provide input into value engineering; negotiate and approve final costs.
- Be a Team Player – support the Cost team, be flexible and maintain a positive attitude.
- Client interaction and communication, initiate and conduct stakeholder meetings.
Pre-Contract Responsibilities:
- Review cost plans and estimates through the design phase, delivering updated cost plans at appropriate design milestones.
- Provide commercial input to design optioneering and input into value engineering exercises.
- Review contractor and subcontractor pricing and leading negotiations on behalf of the client to drive fair contract prices.
Post-Contract Responsibilities:
- Perform cost controls and change management activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure that post-contract cost variances and change control processes are managed effectively.
- Ensure that cost auditing and valuation work is managed effectively and that a robust process for cost validation is in place.
- Carry out the production of monthly cost reports for presentation to the client.
- Ensure that final accounts are negotiated and agreed in a timely manner.
- Compile as built cost estimate records for benchmarking purposes.
- Computer based estimating software experience.
- Good knowledge of construction procurement.
- Good knowledge and experience gained within several industry sectors.
- Team player - Demonstrate solid presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills.
- Advanced G-Suite and Microsoft office skills. Great with spreadsheets.
- Good organization skills, ability to multitask, and be a team player.
Education/Experience:
- Technical work experience or college degree in Cost Estimating, Construction Management or related field.
- Data Center or relatable (i.e; industrial) construction experience is strongly preferred.
- Management experience is beneficial.
- Understanding of CSA cost estimating.
- Strong understanding of all civils, structural and architectural systems.
- Field experience is an advantage.
The salary range for this full-time role is $110K-$140K per year. Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range is a reflection of base salary only, not of a total compensation package. Please note Turner & Townsend reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on candidate’s experience and qualifications.
