Transportation Coordinator

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Vice President of Operations, the Transportation Coordinator will oversee the transportation department and safety of all passengers and drivers of Step, Inc’s buses, vans and automobiles. Ensure all operations are carried out in compliance with all regulatory agencies and with Step, Inc. mission, vision, goals, and policies.
Essential Job Duties:
- As a Transportation Coordinator for Step, Inc., you will have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:
- Interacting with other employees to coordinate transportation needs such as arranging for a bus to pick up clients or arranging for a taxi service for our clients.
- Supervise all drivers for Step, Inc.
- Fill in as a driver when needed.
- Monitoring fuel costs and recommending adjustments to reduce costs.
- Assisting in planning transportation schedules, coordinating with fleet maintenance & vendors on ordering equipment as needed.
- Coordinating with insurance companies to ensure proper coverage for all vehicles.
- Providing information about traffic conditions to customers and dispatchers to ensure that the best routes are chosen for each trip.
- Ensuring that all driver records are always up to date.
- Updating routes as needed based on changes in business hours, traffic patterns, or seasonal changes to accommodate any special needs of passengers on a route.
- Coordinating with the V.P. of Operations, fleet maintenance and all of Step, Inc. management to ensure that buses and/or automobiles are properly maintained and that staff members are trained in safety procedures.
- Maintain safety kits in each vehicle.
- Maintain record books in each vehicle including mileage sheets.
- Attend meetings and interviews as necessary.
- Ability with Black Cat software or the ability to learn it.
- Strong tech skills, computer skills, and communication skills.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience with logistics, or related field.
- Experience in transportation management or coordination
- Working knowledge of transportation software systems, including Black Cat.
- Strong analytical skills for data-driven decision making
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Problem solving ability & the ability to work independently.
Must be able to quickly make weather decisions on if Step, Inc. will remain open or closed due
