P & M Steel Company, a custom steel fabricator with over 50 years in the Sioux Falls area, is seeking a Machine Operator to join our team. 


The Machine Operator position is responsible for supplying and assisting fabricators and other shop employees with the parts they need to complete their work under the supervision and direction of the Shop Supervisor.


Wage $20-23 per hour depending on experience

Monday through Thursday, 10-hour day shift (optional Friday until noon, paid overtime rate).


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operates machine in coordination with Shop Supervisor to efficiently prioritize cutting schedule.
  • Coordinate with Inventory Yard Operator to receive material on timely basis.
  • Verifies material prior to cutting for accuracy.
  • Accurately reports time tracking for project costs.
  • Communicates progress status and material needs to shop Supervisor for scheduling.
  • Communicates with Data Coordinator during file review as needed.
  • Working knowledge of TEKLA Inventory module and completing take from stocks of material.
  • Responsible for mult/nest/making production files for the machine.
  • Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the Shop Supervisor.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  • Performs prescribed preventive maintenance on machine as required per the Preventative Maintenance charts.
  • Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance with regard to machine set-up.
  • Effectively communicates and troubleshoots through machine manufacturer support team.
  • This position is safety sensitive.


Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of manufacturing related experience, preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, preferred.
  • Attention to Detail.


Education

  • High School diploma or Equivalent, required.
