The RC is responsible for positive, collaborative relationships with clients, their families, and the CARS' team. The RC ensures the safety of the clients and an orderly day-to-day operation/flow of clients in the residential program.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the admissions and discharge process, ensuring thorough safety checks of new admissions, belongings, and that clients are properly oriented to the program.
- Maintain a safe community; keep an environment free of substances, minimize risk of contraband entering the building, be accountable for knowing client and visitor whereabouts, and follow emergency protocols.
- Maintain the structure and integrity of the milieu; be a presence in the community, enforce rules of the program with empathy, complete all daily paperwork and documentation, reinforce positive behavior, and assist clients in adapting to the program structure.
- Teach social skills in the milieu, modeling pro-social adult decision making, remain the calmest person in the room while interacting with clients, and when appropriate look for teachable moments to help clients learn from their behavior within the milieu.
- Demonstrated skills at being a professional and an outstanding team member. This will include conduct that at all times recognizes and supports the primacy of team needs, agendas and priorities over individual ones.
Required Skills and Experience:
- High School degree and one-year relevant experience
- A basic understanding of addiction and recovery issues
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in SUD, human services, or related field, CASAC-T or working towards a CASAC-T certification
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task, crisis intervention skills, positive, polite, optimistic role model for clients, and utilization of computer for documentation and communication
- Ability to maintain healthy & appropriate treatment boundaries while being proactive and a flexible team player.
