Job Description
The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for ensuring that all products leaving the production facility are consistent with Grow Food Packing’s quality control standards. In coordination with the Production team, the Quality Assurance Technician will apply changes and action plans to improve the production process, quality, and or consistency of products. This position will be a key member of the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) team, recall procedures, and production audits. The Quality Assurance Technician would be responsible for conducting quality control tests on products, documenting results, recommending corrective actions, assure employee follow Good Manufacturing Practices, and conduct pre and during operation audits. Other duties and special projects as assigned
Requirements:QA Technician Core Responsibilities
Typical activities include, but are not limited to:
· Ensure employees are following Good Manufacturing Practices, i.e. Allergen program, etc.
· Serves as the first point of contact for all potential product recalls.
· Stays current on all food safety and regulatory issues
· Works with the production management team to enforce food production standards and quality control
· Assist with edits and revisions of food production standards and procedures as needed on an ongoing basis
· Evaluates products produced through physical and chemical laboratory analysis
· Records and maintains data including but not limited to – product analysis, temperature logs, sanitation records, etc.
Qualifications & Skills
· 2-year degree minimum preferred in food production, food science, or similar, or working towards a degree in these field
· 2 years of experience in a food production environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
· Spanish speaking skills preferred, but not required
· Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suites
· Industry certifications are not required but a Plus - Food Handler’s Permit, HACCP certified, etc.
· Knowledge of food handling and food production policies dictated by local and national agencies
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and management
· Ability to learn the entire production process
· Evolve with a growing company – bringing past experiences and knowledge as well as continually explore best and better industry practices
· Detail-oriented with high observational skills
· Problem-solving skills
· Ability to take initiative, maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines, and work in a team environment
· Ability to complete multiple tasks without close supervision
· Ability to perform tasks and achieve results with a high degree of accuracy and precision
· Great communicator, able to coach and train employees and management on best practices and new procedures
Physical Demands
· Occasionally required to stand, walk, or sit
· Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
· Reach with hands and arms
· Climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
· Ability to reach, bend, walk, and stand for an extended amount of time
· The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds
· Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a non-exempt position. Days and hours of work vary depending on production needs. This position regularly requires working extended hours, holidays, and weekends.
Work Environment
This job operates in a manufacturing environment. This role uses equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Ability to work in cold temperatures for an extended period of time (40 F).
