Job Description:

  • County Department is seeking a dedicated Documentation Specialist/Technical Writer to join our Electronic Health Record (EHR) implementation project.
  • This role will be critical in ensuring comprehensive, clear, and accurate documentation of all phases of the EHR project.
  • The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT professionals, healthcare providers, and administrative staff, to create user manuals, training materials, and system documentation.
  • The position will also involve maintaining consistency in documentation practices, managing updates, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Skills required:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in technical writing and documentation best practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to understand and translate complex technical concepts into user-friendly documentation.
  • Familiarity with EHR systems and healthcare terminology.
  • Proficiency with documentation tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Confluence).
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently.
  • Knowledge of document control practices and version management

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in technical writing or documentation specialist roles, preferably within the healthcare or IT sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience with EHR systems and healthcare documentation.
  • Proven track record of producing high-quality technical documentation for diverse audiences, including healthcare professionals and IT staff

Experience Preferred:

  • Experience in participating in large-scale IT implementation projects, particularly in healthcare settings, is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience working within correctional health environments is a plus.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, or a related field or equitable experience.

Education Preferred:

  • Certification in Technical Writing or related discipline is a plus.
  • Continuing education or training in EHR systems and healthcare IT is advantageous
