Opening its doors over 40 years ago, FSSI is one of the largest woman-owned providers of documents services in the western United States, specializing in highly-customizable print and mail, electronic delivery, marketing and compliance solutions. As a vibrant, growing organization, FSSI is looking to expand our team.

FSSI is currently looking for a full-time Mail Sorter/Expeditor to join our 2nd shift team in Santa Ana, CA. This position is responsible for sorting mail from mail insert machines and for assisting in expediting large-scale bulk mailing production which includes job tracking, material staging and inventory logging. This position also serves as a backup driver when coverage is needed, driving company vehicles to designated pick-up and delivery locations.

Full-time Schedule: Monday – Friday, 1:30 pm – 10:00 pm. Overtime is scheduled as needed, and could require coming in earlier, staying later, and/or working a weekend shift during high-volume production cycles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Transfer sealed envelopes from insert machines to mail trays and place filled mail trays onto pallets.
  • Ensure all envelopes are stamped and sealed.
  • Confirm mailing addresses and micro numbers are visible in envelope windows.
  • Sort at more than one machine at a time.
  • Assist machine operators with preparation work prior to start of each job and clearing of stock and materials at the end of each job.
  • Assist operators with loading envelopes, inserts and other materials as needed.
  • Assist operators with preparing and processing diverted and/or damaged mail pieces.
  • Assist Supervisor in scheduling production runs and accepting mailing work orders and checklists into the Mailing Department, based on specified criteria.
  • Verify that all necessary information needed to start each job is on the checklist and correct.
  • Stage materials for the operators, including physically moving job trees requiring strenuous physical work such as heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling.
  • Assist the mailing department with additional work, as needed and/or requested.
  • Serve as a backup driver when needed, which includes:
  1. Driving company vehicles for the purpose of pick-ups and deliveries to designated locations.
  2. Prepare daily production volume for USPS, Pitney Bowes Pre-Sort Services (PBPS) and Direct Mailing for deliveries.
  3. Sort and prepare production volume for PBPS daily pickups.
  4. Unload mailing materials from delivery trucks.
  5. Retrieve and prepare first-class mail for delivery to Post Office.

Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced production environment required.
  • Mail sorting, expediting and/or material handling experience is preferred.
  • Valid Drivers License is required.
  • 1+ years driving experience without moving violations or safety concerns.
  • Experience driving company vehicles is required.
  • Flexibility in work schedule, frequently 10 or more hours per day, is required on a recurring basis.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Regularly required to use hands and/or fingers to grasp, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. Continuous standing, walking, and movement of the body required. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Regularly lift, move, pull, and push up to 50 pounds. Specific visions required by this job include close vision, distance vision, accurate color vision, peripheral vision, and focus adjustments. Steel-toe footwear must be worn while on the job site at all times regardless of the presence of a hazard.
