New York, United States FarmSteady Brooklyn Brew Shop Full time
Job DescriptionJob Description

Are you passionate about the world of food, fermentation, and DIY projects? Do you thrive in managing processes and people to deliver high-quality products? If you love seeing a product journey from concept to customer, you may be the perfect fit for our New York-based food startup.

At Brooklyn Brew Shop and its companion brand FarmSteady, makers of Beer Making Kits and DIY food kits, we are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Production Coordinator. This key role involves planning, purchasing, and executing our production runs to ensure efficiency and high standards.

Our production facility (based in Kingston, NY) handles a wide array of activities, including building our products, managing inventory, and shipping everything from small parcels to freight and international shipping containers. As the Production Coordinator you will oversee the coordination of production runs, manage sourcing and ordering of raw materials, track inventory, create spec sheets, and schedule builds and shipments to and from our Kingston warehouse.

A love for—or curiosity about—brewing, cooking, and fermentation projects is a huge plus.

Our team is split between Kingston, NY and Brooklyn. This position is open to applicants in the New York City area who can meet for regular team meetups and work 2 to 3 days per week from offices located in Brooklyn.

The Production Coordinator will work closely with our small team across the following areas:

  • Purchasing
    • Order both short-lead and long-lead components for upcoming production builds and ecommerce sites
    • Maintain purchasing calendars, regularly review inventory levels, report on and plan for replenishments
    • Project inventory needs based on past sales and upcoming orders
    • Negotiate pricing with vendors and research new and alternate suppliers
    • Source items both domestically and internationally as required
  • Production Planning
    • Schedule production runs and maintain calendar to manage production timelines
    • Collaborate with the sales team to process wholesale orders and ensure fulfillment and delivery in compliance with retailer guidelines
    • Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) for product-specific or customer-specific labeling or packing requirements
    • Coordinate with Warehouse Lead to ensure production runs are completed on schedule and to specification
    • Communicate any production changes or delays to all relevant departments
  • Logistics
    • Coordinate incoming and outgoing logistics for less-than-truckload (LTL), full truckload (FTL), and container distribution of finished goods to retailers or warehouses, both domestically and internationally
    • Solicit freight quotes and prepare customs documentation for international shipments
    • Prepare labels, bills of lading (BOLs), and other shipping documents
    • Coordinate with retailer shipping teams for bookings and shipping compliance
  • Record Keeping
    • Enter incoming components, bills of materials (BOMs), manufacturing orders and completed shipments in our internal MRP system
    • Use QuickBooks to create purchase orders, invoices, and inventory items and work with the team to maintain accurate files

What your typical day might look like:

  • Follow-up with vendors and check on the tracking of incoming materials
  • Coordinate with the team on production schedule for the week and adjust production schedules as individual timelines shift, alerting team of any finished product delays
  • Book shipments for finished goods
  • Plan upcoming production runs
  • Order and track raw materials with timelines ranging from 2 days to 5 months
  • Monitor inventory levels, ordering products as necessary
  • Research new suppliers and products

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree
  • At least 1-2 years of production, merchandising or supply chain work experience preferably in specialty food, fashion, or other consumer goods industries
  • Experience working and communicating with large brands and managing complex requirements
  • Comfortable analyzing data and projecting long-term material needs
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel skills with a desire to expand these skills
  • Experience in coordinating shipping and/or working with products
  • Paperwork is your middle name and you embrace it
  • Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple projects and tasks efficiently, and thrive in a dynamic environment
  • Team player, able to take direction but also extremely self-motivated
  • Interest in product development, especially in the specialty food, beer and DIY sectors

About Us:

Brooklyn Brew Shop was born out of the Brooklyn Flea in 2009, with the mission to make brewing simple, tasty, and most importantly, fun for space-strapped New Yorkers. We design stylish, easy-to-use Beer Making Kits and ingredient mixes for seasonally inspired beers, made especially for stove-top brewing.

In 2016, we launched FarmSteady, a brand designed to extend our straightforward and approachable attitude to all things food, including growing, foraging, making, and fermenting. Our aim is to inspire a new generation of makers, bringing the joy and creativity of artisanal food and craft beer to kitchens everywhere.

Our products are about more than just the end result—they're about the process itself. We believe in the power of making, the joy of creating something yourself, and the conversations that food and beer can spark, especially when it's homemade.

You can find our products at Urban Outfitters, Macy's, Nordstrom, as well as at independent retailers across the United States and Europe. We're proud of the community we've built and are excited to continue growing, bringing the joy of making to more people around the world.

If you're passionate about artisanal food and craft beer, and ready to contribute to a dynamic, creative team, please apply today. We'd love to hear from you.
