Summary


As a Site Coordinator, this role serves as the lead teacher for the Family Child
Interaction Learning (FCIL) Hawaiian Immersion preschool classroom and is integral in
implementing, overseeing, and coordinating curriculum lessons and various activities
within the site to ensure that the materials and activities in the classroom adhere to the
philosophy, goals and objectives as outlined in Keiki Steps program curriculum and the
institution’s mission.
This position is an integral part of the Keiki Steps team, collaborating closely with
leadership in the design of program curriculum, planning, lesson planning, and
mentoring of site staff andparticipating parents. Each Site Coordinator is responsible for
creating an engaging learning environment for children, families, and caregivers.
Maintaining meticulous program files, complying with educational regulations,
screening, and evaluating participants, providing progress reports, and identifying
learning challenges for appropriate referrals are crucial responsibilities.


Duties and Responsibilities


• Execute a high-quality Hawaiian language immersion Hawaiian-practices based Early Childhood Education program utilizing a kaʻao/moʻolelo curriculum framework.
• Support the execution of a high-quality Hawaiian-practices based parenting and child development curriculum for adult participants in Hawaiian.
• Support the daily use of Hawaiian cultural activities, practices, and language.
• Adhere to INPEACE Employee Handbook, INPEACE Policies Manual, Office Guidelines and all health and safety policies.
• Responsible for the overall administration of activities and deadlines of site.
• Establish and maintain a positive learning environment that is conducive to learning within multiple modalities including in-person and/or distance learning.
• Provide educational support to children and their parents/caregivers.
• Integrate a variety of appropriate teaching strategies.
• Establish and maintain appropriate student and parent/caregiver behavior at the site.
• Assist in screening and evaluating of children, families, and caregivers in program.
• Provide progress reports as required.

• Recognize and identify learning problems and makes referrals as appropriate.
• Follow ethical and professional practices in working with children,
children’s records, parents, caregivers, and colleagues.
• Involve community resources in classroom activities as appropriate.
• Work cooperatively with the Homestead leaders, partners, administrators for designated sites, and special support personnel.
• Attend and actively participate in Programmatic Events, Trainings, and Site
Team meetings as established by leadership.
• Participate in planning and coordinating closely with the PD/APD on program, applicable regulations, procedures, and accountability practices.
• Prepare and implement lesson plans and hold regularly scheduled meetings with team members.
• Follow the established formats and outcomes worksheets in the planning and development of integrated lesson plans.
• Maintain program files as assigned by leadership and in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Meet deadlines for all monthly kuleana submissions and report deadlines.
• Complete, maintain and submit accurate monthly documentation for site kuleana as assigned and expected by leadership.
• Comply with all state and local board of education requirements for educationally appropriate instruction development.
• Accurate and timely submission of PTO (Paid Time Off) requests and ADP timesheet.
• Participate in at least five community events per school year and engage in ongoing recruitment for the program.
• Participate in ECE coursework each semester and actively engage to meet the minimal educational requirements.
• Attend and complete all mandatory and assigned academic coursework and training.
• Use effective oral and written expression.
• Maintain current certifications including CDA (until AA or higher in ECE is earned), First Aid/CPR/AED, Food Handling.
• Perform other duties as requested.


Minimum Qualifications


Base Requirement for all candidates:
• Two (2) years’ 2 years ECE classroom experience, preferably in an FCIL setting.
• Fluent in Hawaiian language.


Additional Education Requirements:
• Level 1: Child Development Associate (CDA) credentials.
• Level 2: Associate degree in education or related field OR CDA and 6 years’ experience in the classroom.
• Level 3: Bachelor’s degree in education or related field OR associate degree (any field) and 6 years’ experience in the classroom.
• Level 4: Master’s degree in education or related field.


Note: Relevant college coursework may count toward degree requirement at rate of 12 credits = 1 semester, with presentation of college transcript. Not to exceed a BA.


Skills and Knowledge


• Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and implement a comprehensive Keiki Steps instructional program for children and their families or caregivers.
• Willingness to integrate new practices and skills into the work environment.
• Knowledge of early care and education and other family support services available in the community.
• Willingness to work as part of a team.
• Proficiency required in oral and written communication, interpersonal relations.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends.
• Ability to analyze problems, develop effective solutions and resolve problems within Hawaiian cultural context.
• Knowledge of early childhood and family community resources.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with internal and external individuals, groups, organizations, and community agencies.
• Proficiency in technological applications including Microsoft Office, Zoom, Google Suite, Workforce Automatic Data Processing (ADP).


Preferred Experience


• Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
• Knowledge and sensitivity to the interests and needs of families in Native Hawaiian and/or poverty communities.
• Experience in a FCIL is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of Hawaiian-practices based education.


Essential Job Functions


• Sit, kneel, squat, stand, and bend for 6-8 hours at a time.
• Able to work on a computer screen for long periods of time.
• Lift up to 25 pounds.
