Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Family Support Specialist to join our team at INPEACE. The successful candidate will provide educational support to children and their parents/caregivers, coordinate parent workshops, and serve as a resource and referral for families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide educational support to children and their parents/caregivers within multiple modalities, including in-person and/or distance learning.
  • Work closely with families to provide resources and referral services on-site.
  • Attend all meetings and training, including Staff Development, Professional Development, and 'Ohana Advocate Meetings.
  • Maintain current certifications, including CDA, First Aid/CPR, and Food Handling.
  • Assist in creating an engaging Keiki Steps preschool classroom environment.
  • Build meaningful relationships with families.
  • Determine parent/group needs and research resources to provide appropriate support.
  • Work closely with the lead teacher and aide to schedule parent education courses and workshops.
  • Maintain parent center and board.
  • Implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum rooted in Hawaiian culture.
  • Support the daily use of Hawaiian cultural activities and practices.
  • Support the daily use of Hawaiian language.
  • May lead courses and workshops as appropriate.
  • Reinforce the parent education component of the curriculum.
  • Schedule parent workshops and training.
Requirements
  • Level 1: High school diploma and 2 years' experience working with children ages 0-5.
  • Level 2: CDA credentials and 2 years' experience with children ages 0-5 or AA degree.
  • Level 3: Associate degree and 2 years' experience in the field or CDA and 6 years' experience.
  • Level 4: Bachelor's degree and 2 years' experience or AA degree and 6 years' experience or CDA and 8 years' experience.
  • Level 5: Master's degree in education or a related field.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Knowledge of early care and education, as well as other family support services and resources available in the community.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication, interpersonal relations, and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent planning, organization, coordination skills, and ability to motivate people.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to seek Hawaiian cultural resources in the community.
  • Ability to analyze problems, develop effective solutions, and resolve problems within a Hawaiian cultural context.
  • Willingness to integrate new practices and skills into the work environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with internal and external individuals, groups, organizations, and community agencies.
  • Proficiency in technological applications, including Microsoft Office, Zoom, Google Suite, and Workforce Automatic Data Processing (ADP).
