Job Title: Program Coordinator

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Program Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the delivery of youth development programs, building and maintaining relationships with Club members, families, schools, and community organizations, and advancing the mission of the Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, and implement programs and activities for youth, including recruitment and enrollment, program management, and supervision of program staff.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Community Impact and other staff to design and promote programs that attract and retain members, ensure participation in impact programs, and create positive impact in all program areas.
  • Develop programs and activities that prepare youth for success, focusing on healthy lifestyles, good character, and citizenship, with a special emphasis on academic success and career preparedness.
  • Oversee the provision of day-to-day program activities, ensuring accountability and behavior management of members, including the development of behavior plans and contracts with parents.
  • Approach challenges and collaborative efforts with a positive attitude, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all Club members.
  • Prepare requisitions for program supplies and equipment, ensure grant-funded programs meet expectations, and complete reports accurately and on time.
  • Responsible for ensuring member and program data is entered into the member tracking system, preparing supervisory staff schedules, and submitting time and effort sheets to the Admin Team.
  • Prepare and submit written reports, letters, and memos to the Director of Community Impact and/or Admin Team, handle deposits and banking transactions for the Club site, and maintain the overall safety of all Club activities and programming.
  • Accountable for facility cleanliness and organization of program spaces, promote and stimulate community and parent interest in Club activities, and establish good community relations.
  • Direct, monitor, and evaluate youth development staff in carrying out programs and the mission of the Boys & Girls Club, including the enforcement of operational policies and procedures and performance management.
  • Support organizational marketing goals, maintain good public relations, and communicate success stories with the Admin team for use in promoting the organization.
  • Participate in lead state-wide program quality improvement efforts, attend management, program, and site meetings, and participate in special programs or events as directed by the Director of Community Impact.
  • Take the initiative in researching best-practice programs and proven methods for youth development, both within the Boys & Girls Clubs Movement and throughout the field of Youth Development.
Requirements
  • Four-year degree in a related field from an accredited college or university, or a combination of secondary education and experience.
  • Three years of management experience, with five years preferred.
  • Valid State of Hawaii driver's license, daily access to a car, and current no-fault auto insurance, with a good driving record.
  • Ability to work with youth, including at-risk youth, and deal effectively with members, including discipline problems.
  • Experience working with and collaborating with external agencies, especially those that serve young people.
  • Knowledge and/or experience working with a non-profit youth development agency, Boys & Girls Club experience preferred.
  • Proficient skill with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Good organization and attention to detail, professional presence, strong customer relations skills, and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Expertise in youth development principles, ability to motivate and manage youth in a positive way, and proven ability to manage large groups of children.
  • Must have the physical ability to meet the demands of all program activities, including standing for long periods of time, climbing, running, kneeling, jumping, swimming, lifting of at least 30 pounds, and other physical demands that program activities may entail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience training and supervising staff/volunteers.
  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to learn and implement new ideas.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, effectively with people of diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, and a variety of agencies and community organizations.
  • Must be able to pass background, drug, and driving record checks.
  • Must be able to function under fast-paced and noisy conditions.
