Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for performing monthly journal entries, accounts payable and accounts receivable activities. This individual will also be responsible for managing financial reports, records, and general ledgers. This individual will be a part of a growing, multiple-entity organization and will gain broad knowledge within the Finance Department. The expectation for this role will be to grow into higher levels of responsibility as the company continues to expand. The position allows for a hybrid schedule with some flexibility in scheduled work hours. Excellent opportunity for someone who wants to learn all aspects of the monthly financial statement close process and assist in establishing new accounting policies and procedures.

 

Job Description

  • Use established accounting principles to perform general ledger accounting for revenue and expense transactions including, but not limited to, bank reconciliations, fixed assets, and accrued expenses.
  • Analysis of accounts or accounting transactions, preparation of bank reconciliation and cash management functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and accruals and reconciliations. 
  • Prepares month-end account reconciliations and assists with the month-end financial close process within month-end deadlines.
  • Utilize current processes to manage and improve the corporate credit and expense report programs for all employees.
  • Familiarize self with current purchase order software and processes to oversee the entire purchase order process. 
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate to educate employees and departments on the company on accounting policies.
  • Works with external auditors.
  • Research, analyze and effectively communicate basic accounting issues and escalate appropriately by bringing any inconsistencies to attention of management.

 

Required Education/Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or another related field is required.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in accounting is highly preferred.
  • Familiarly with the use of NetSuite and Microsoft suite including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Proven ability to maintain high standards of confidentiality of all records and information.
  • Well organized, flexible, and enjoys the administrative challenges of supporting an office of diverse staff.
  • Ability to multi-task and assess responsibilities to prioritize based on company needs.
  • Ability to continually improve department processes.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Desire to grow within the position and be hands on in all aspects of accounting.
