Hotel Equities, a multi-award-winning hotel development and hospitality management company, is currently searching for a remarkable Sales Event Manager for the Kansas City Airport Marriott in Kansas City. MO.

Job Purpose:

This position is responsible for the management of accounts to achieve guest satisfaction and to solicit past and new business to ensure all revenue goals (i.e., room nights, ADR, REVPAR, catering, room rental, etc.) are achieved or exceeded. The position will lead the development and solicitation of group business from all markets, as needed, to ensure successful and profitable operation for the hotel. This position is responsible for directly booking, detailing and servicing of small meetings and small guestroom blocks (less than 30 room nights). This includes contracts, proposals, banquet event orders and group resumes.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The position requires the ability to perform the following essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Move throughout property to conduct site inspections. Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the Hotel, both orally and in written form to previous, current, and potential clients.
  • Handles account details so that all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented.
  • Communicates with other departments to ensure proper handling and servicing of accounts.
  • Maintains all files, correspondence, and records in the department.
  • Answers telephones and responds appropriately to requests.
  • Travels locally to build partnerships and to attend networking events.
  • Prepares information, meets with, and entertains clients as deemed appropriate by potential business from that account.
  • Represents Hotel at trade shows, as needed.
  • Is able to own all facets of detailing a group room block by learning MARSHA reservation system.
  • Orders amenities for meeting planners or VIP’s.
  • Increases visibility of the Hotel by actively participating in the community.
  • Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures including safety procedures and local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • At all times projects a favorable image of The Hotel Group & Hotel to the public.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Previous Hotel Sales Experience preferred- 2 years

Experience with CITY or Delphi required

High School diploma /Secondary qualification or equivalent.

Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham or Hyatt processes and standards.

This job requires the ability to perform the following:

  • Must have dexterity/mobility to meet clients on and off premises, to tour property and attend functions, to climb stairs, use door keys and operate basic office equipment.
  • Vision to read fine print and computer screens, to see colors, to observe rooms in poorly lit conditions.
  • Understand and follow verbal/written instructions.

  • Develop strong internal and customer relationships .
  • Set and manage priorities and plan activities in advance.
  • Solve problems and make sound business decisions.
