Job Description:

  • HOPE IC3 is seeking qualified individual to serve as a Certified Peer Specialist for their Intensive Customized Care Coordination (IC3) Program. The CPS-Y or CPS-P will serve youth and families in need of customized, coordinated care in order to discover the underlying needs of the family by building upon the strengths of the family and their supports.

Duties:

  • Build connections with parents/youth built on mutuality and common connection. Utilize personal experience to build connections, find common ground, and provide support.
  • Support parents/youth in recognizing and advocating personal/family goals for reaching hope for the future.
  • Commit to being led by the peer in moving forward, decision making and setting direction rather than leading the person being supported.
  • Utilize CPS-P/CPS-Y specific training techniques as well as implementing PEARLS training techniques to build rapport and a peer-based relationship to support and encourage peers' life journey.
  • Will utilize their own unique recovery experience by role modeling the value of every peer's recovery experience.
  • Link with others in collaboration and problem-solving including others involved in the family’s care & services. Maintain open communication with other providers to ensure family perspective is present and needs of family are voiced appropriately.
  • Suspend and interrupt bias and blame including self-doubt and bias that be carried by the person receiving support.
  • Maintain working knowledge of current trends and developments in the mental health field, continue to develop and share recovery-oriented material with other CPS's, attend continuing education sessions offered by CPS project, and attend relevant seminars, meetings, and in-service trainings whenever offered.
  • Communicate active acceptance of peers and their life goals, communicate accurate information to others within workforce in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Hold peers that are being served with respect and consideration, acting with an empathetic attitude by suspending/interrupting bias and blame.
  • Accept directions and feedback from supervisors and follow through appropriately.
  • Will need to request personal leave 3 days in advance.
  • Will need to ensure that contact of program manager is immediate when there is absence due to sickness, illness, etc.
  • Will follow the agency dress code.
  • Will be utilized at any designated CSBMG program in order to meet the agency need.
  • Will follow all Universal Safety Precautions when working with peers.
  • Will utilize the chain of command to report any problems related to job performance and operation of the program.
  • Complete progress notes no later than 24 hours after delivering the service.
Peers must also be able to manage boundaries in relationships with peers, family members, and staff. Be willing to seek supervision from direct supervisor when in doubt. And make adjustments in accordance with guidance provided by ream leadership.

Requirements:

  • Already hold certification as a Certified Peer Specialist (Parent, Youth, or Addictive Disease)
    • OR
  • Have all three of these:
    1. Qualify for CPS-P, CPS-Y, or CPS-AD Certification (See Below)
    2. have a high school diploma or GED,
    3. and be willing to become certified.

Skills:

  • Ability to use lived experience to support youth in IC3 program.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with peers based on mutuality and common connection.
  • Ability to use common connection to support families.
  • Ability to link to others involved in the team.

In order to earn a CPS-P Certification, you have to meet these requirements:

  • Candidates must be the parent or legal guardian of a child living with mental illness, substance use and/or co-occurring diagnosis (the child can have multiple diagnoses); and must
  • Be individuals seeking employment as a Certified Peer Specialist-Parent, or who are currently working in that role, and will provide 20-40 hours per week of direct parent peer support;
  • Be experienced navigating complex public health or child-serving systems of care;
  • Have a high school diploma or GED;
  • Provide (1) letter of reference (please include contact information) This cannot be a family member.
