Position Overview 

Reporting to the Manager, Pre-construction, the Estimator, Pre-construction is responsible for developing project cost estimates to support the development and pre-construction of battery storage and renewable energy (wind and solar) projects within Cordelio’s portfolio. This role is best suited for a person with a background in construction, estimating, or engineering within the electric power generation industry looking to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities 

  • Utilize engineering principles and industry knowledge to estimate project cost inputs for standalone battery storage and renewable energy projects across the United States, considering a range of project sizes and complexities.
  • Collaborate with project teams to analyze project scopes, specifications, and technical requirements to accurately determine cost inputs in support of development, pre-construction, and construction phases of project life cycles.
  • Develop and maintain cost databases for battery storage and renewable energy projects, incorporating factors such as equipment costs, labor, materials, permits, and other project-related expenses.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data from various sources to inform cost estimates, ensuring accuracy and reliability in projections.
  • Provide support in estimating costs associated with substation and gen-tie infrastructure for battery storage and renewable energy projects, considering design specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimate reports, documentation, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to project stakeholders and management.
  • Support pre-construction activities as necessary to meet overall company objectives.

Experience Requirements

  • Two years experience in the energy and/or construction industry, with exposure to project estimation, cost analysis, or related fields. Experience specifically in battery storage or renewable energy projects is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret technical data, perform cost analysis, and develop cost estimates with appropriate accuracy. 
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as with a team, under pressure and with time sensitive deadlines. 
  • Possess self-initiative qualities with the ability to work independently with minimal direction and time sensitive deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize several concurrent tasks in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment

Technical Skills

  • Familiarity with typical computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work within a team and associated people skills.
​​​​Travel Requirements
  • Up to 30% primarily domestically (U.S. and Canada). Includes travel to remote project locations, contractor and supplier offices/facilities, company offices and events, and technical conferences.

Location

  • This role is expected to be remotely located but may have the option to relocate to an existing or future U.S. office.

Compensation & Benefits 

  • The total compensation range for this position is $126,000 to $172,000 per year. Exact compensation will be determined by Cordelio and depends upon experience.
