Assistant Director of Environmental Services

Full Time | Day Shift

** Salary up to $65,000/year; based on experience **

Requirements for a Friendly Home Assistant Director of Environmental Services:

  • High school diploma plus three to five years technical training in Healthcare related Environmental Services required.
  • Two to four years' managerial experience in health care or related field preferred.

Responsibilities for a Friendly Home Assistant Director of Environmental Services:

  • Supervises the day-to-day activities of assigned personnel.
  • Assists in setting and maintaining Environmental Services standards.
  • Under the guidance of the Building Services Director, assists with the planning, direction, and supervision of the Environmental Services department to include specific work SOP's, strategic staffing initiatives, and creating and achieving budgetary goals.
  • Assists with the fiscal integrity of the department. Codes invoices, reviews monthly financials, prepares capital justifications and helps with annual budgeting.
  • Responsible for maintaining an effective Quality Assurance program for both Environmental Services and Laundry (as needed).
  • Maintains an active role on the Safety Committee. Submits accident/incident reports to Director as needed.
  • Completes and submits monthly Assistant Director SOP to Director.
  • Assists in standardizing the methods by which work is accomplished and assists with procedural updates as issues are presented.
  • Coordinates projects and routine Environmental Services functions with other departments.
  • Manages the pest control vendor and provided services so as to maintain a pest free environment.
  • Manages project cleaning to include flooring, windows, etc.
  • Assists in scheduling work assignments and preparing cleaning schedules.
  • Ensures that work/cleaning schedules are followed as closely as is practical.
  • Assigns personnel to specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.
  • Ensures that department personnel are performing assigned tasks in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assists in the orientation and training of department personnel.
  • Counsels or disciplines assigned personnel as requested or as necessary.
  • Reviews and evaluates the work performance of assigned personnel.
  • Ensures that employees are following established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
  • Ensures that established infection control practices are maintained when performing Environmental Services procedures.
  • Ensures that equipment is clean and in good repair at the end of every shift.
  • Ensures that all cleaning products are properly labeled and stored.
  • Completes room/home turnovers as necessary or as assigned by FSL Building Services Director.
  • Dispenses supplies and equipment to Environmental Services personnel.
