Based in St. Louis Park, it is one of the five largest commercial printing and direct mail production firms in the country thanks to its highly skilled work force and ongoing investment in equipment and technology. The company maintains a 720,000 square-foot facility with approximately 550 employees.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Master Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules that align with customer orders, inventory levels, and production capacity. The incumbent works closely with cross-functional teams, including production, sales, and finance, to coordinate and prioritize production activities, minimize downtime, and maximize efficiency. Additionally, this position is accountable for analyzing data, identifying opportunities for process improvement, and implementing strategies to enhance the Company’s overall production performance.
PAY RANGE: $95,000 to $115,000 per year
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/SCOPE:
- Develop and maintain master production schedules that enable SIOP (sales, inventory, and operations planning) processes, optimize resource utilization, minimize lead times, and meet customer delivery requirements.
- Collaborate with sales management, sales operations, customer service, and production teams to review customer orders, forecast demand, and prioritize production activities accordingly.
- Monitor production workflow and capacity utilization, identifying potential bottlenecks or constraints and implementing solutions to optimize throughput.
- Coordinate with procurement and inventory management teams to ensure availability of materials and components needed for production.
- Utilize advanced planning and scheduling tools (e.g., ERP systems) to generate production schedules, track progress, and analyze performance metrics.
- Communicate production schedules, priorities, and changes to relevant stakeholders, ensuring alignment and transparency across the organization.
- Lead regular production meetings to review schedule adherence, address challenges, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Analyze production data and performance metrics to identify trends, root causes of inefficiencies, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies to streamline production processes, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency and effectiveness.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in production planning and scheduling, incorporating learnings into our operations.
- Manage, engage, and develop a team of Schedulers.
- Additional work duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in operations management, supply chain management, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in production planning, scheduling, or operations management, preferably in the printing or manufacturing industry, with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Proficiency in production planning and scheduling software (e.g., ERP systems), Microsoft Excel, and other relevant tools.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills, with a proactive and results-driven approach to continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and methodologies is a plus.
