JOB SUMMARY:
Performs mechanical repairs with minimal supervision to ensure proper performance and safety. Maintains diesel & gasoline equipment operations by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments; keeping records. Position has a good working knowledge of all tools and equipment required to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair possible problems. Full time, hourly position. Candidate is a skilled heavy vehicle, diesel and mobile equipment mechanic with the ability to diagnose most problems and perform the appropriate repairs.

The starting pay is $28.00-$30.00 per hour depending on experience.

What You'll Do:
  • Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts
  • Keeps equipment available for use by field personnel by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing components and part upgrades
  • Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems
  • Tunes, adjusts, regulates equipment engines, valves, pumps, carburetors and other mechanical components with variable setting
  • Lubricates and services vehicles, equipment or machinery and maintains accurate record of such service. Enters all truck tasks and time into fleet management software
  • Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems
  • Follows federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards
  • Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting; participate in shop housekeeping to ensure a safe work environment
  • Contains costs by using potential warranty, evaluating service, and parts options
  • Maintain up to date job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests
What We Need From You:
  • High school diploma or technical/vocational school; or minimum 5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Proficient with Microsoft office products; familiar with PC keyboards and data entry
  • The employee is required to provide their own tools of the trade as well as purchase/replace, as needed, to ensure being able to perform the necessary functions of the job
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations, and walk, stand, sit, or bend for long durations in a variety of weather conditions
