Job Title: Network Systems Administrator

Status: Exempt

Reports to: Vice President of Technology

Class: Official/Mgr.

SUMMARY:

Maintain the administration of the Island Federal Network Environment. The ability to work independently and with a team with strong communication skills. Work closely with the Vice President of Technology and Team System Administrators to implement all Network Systems consisting of Servers, Workstations, Communications, Applications, Security, and System Uptime. Must maintain positive working relationships with end-users, IT team, and vendors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Manage and maintain Island’s network consisting of over 65+ servers with multiple domain controllers, DNS, Active Directory, and Group Policy management, with over 350 Windows 10/11 workstations.
  2. Configuration of MFA, SSO, remote VPN, Microsoft 365 applications, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, One Drive, Laptops, Smartphones, Calendars, Anti-Virus, maintain and install a wide variety of complex system software.
  3. Manage ESXI environment across multiple sites including disaster recovery and replication.
  4. Collaborate with third-party vendors to implement new systems and support a variety of applications, hardware, and software.
  5. Maintain and monitor the Backup system, verify data backups, and test restore procedures periodically to ensure restoration can be completed promptly in the event of system downtime.
  6. Create documentation and solutions for projects and software installations, incident and response reports, Audits, and internal processes.
  7. Maintain high-level service network and user support for all branches across Long Island including all workstations, printers, servers, camera systems, phone systems, and peripheral devices.
  8. Maintain a disaster recovery plan for servers, communications, critical systems, and data replication.
  9. Hands-on knowledge of data center administration including network switches, POE, Firewalls, VLANs, cable management, network monitoring, UPS.
  10. Maintain a strong patch management system to ensure all devices are properly secured using BMC, and knowledge of vulnerability management.
  11. Strong ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues promptly and independently in critical situations.
  12. Collaborate closely with the Team System Administrators to maintain the security and integrity of the Island’s network infrastructure.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Strong knowledge of networks and data center administration
  2. Strong knowledge of servers, virtual servers, workstations, Active Directory, GPOs, network security
  3. Knowledge of switches, firewalls, cable management office 365, VPNs, and software
  4. Patch management, monitoring, switches, communication circuits, VOIP, POE
  5. The individual must be able to work with a team and maintain positive working relationships with end users, the IT team, management, and vendors.
  6. Strong communication skills and the ability to provide training to internal employees.
  7. Troubleshoot and diagnose network problems promptly.
  8. Ability to see well enough to read reports and use a computer.
  9. Ability to hear well enough to communicate on the phone.
  10. Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, push, pull and carry. Lifting/Pulling Carrying may incur up to 30-50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  11. Driving may be required for occasional travel between Island Federal’s branches.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. High school graduate and equivalent experience required

2. 10 years of Windows Networking Administration experience is required

3. Strong understanding of networks, security, servers, workstations, data center management.

4. Certifications preferred.

5. Formal training should be supplemented with continuing education.
