Position Summary


Reporting to the chief financial officer (CFO), the Corporate Controller (Controller) will be responsible for overseeing the daily accounting operations, managing accounting standards, and ensuring compliance across the organization. In this capacity, the Controller will have oversight of billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll functions. The Controller will also serve as the key point of contact with the external bookkeeping firm, ensuring that all business transactions are thoroughly captured and appropriately distributed across the general ledger. The Controllers position will also liaise with departmental leadership in ensuring that operating budgets are carefully managed. The Controller will also support the operations through educational presentations to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Essential Duties


  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.
  • Ensure timely closing of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Assist leadership in the annual budgeting process.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to all persons within their professional supervision.
  • Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization.
  • Provide uniform oversight and guidance of the billing, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
  • Support CFO in crafting data-driven financial opinions and decisions.
  • Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements.
  • Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the companys performance.
  • Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes.
  • Hiring, training and retaining accounting staff.
  • Creating and monitoring company policies and internal controls.
  • Handling payroll processing and labor tax compliance.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competences:


  • Mature leader with (7) seven to (10) ten years of accounting and finance experience
  • Ability to provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization
  • Personal qualities of honesty, credibility, caring, punctuality, professionalism and an unwavering commitment to respect others are required
  • Proactive, hands-on strategic thinker
  • Technology-savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors
  • Knowledge of federal and state tax and/or withholdings.
  • Aptitude for accounting and payroll software programs.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information appropriately.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations.
  • Proficiency in using timesheets, leave requests, hourly wage rates and other adjustments.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities.
Qualifications


  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent.
  • 7+ years of related business experience in the Finance and Accounting environment.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in accounts payable with payroll processing exposure.
  • Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or similar field.
  • Experience and/or other training/certification may be substituted for a degree.
