We are currently looking for a highly skilled and motivated Supplier Development Manager to support our development teams and contract manufacturing partners in the sourcing of Direct Supply Chain components and parts. This role will report to our VP of Operations and in parallel be an active sourcing resource supporting our various engineering and planning teams.


The Supplier Development Manager will support the development, implementation and management of strategies to provide 5th Axis with optimal supply assurance, pricing, flexibility, quality and delivery performance.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Work with upper management to develop and implement supply chain strategies that align with company objectives.
  • Manages and optimizes supply chain processes issuing and analyzing request for quote and vendors proposals to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, quality and customer satisfaction
  • Qualifies and scores potential vendors to coordinate outsourcing of machined parts.
  • Negotiates contracts with vendors to secure the best terms and prices.
  • Oversee inventory management practices, ensuring optimal stock levels are maintained.
  • Utilizes advanced supply chain management software to monitor vendor performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Finance) to forecast demand and ensure supply chain readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with all import and regulatory requirements meeting all ethical standards related to supply chain operations.
  • Monitors the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new suppliers in collaboration with other departments
  • Prepare and present regular performance reports to senior management
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience with Procurement/Purchasing in the manufacturing field with at least 3 in a managerial position.
  • Experience with change management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers, shippers, and customers.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Thorough understanding of company products and logistics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Experience with Epicor MRP desired.
