The Country Club of Rochester is seeking a talented and experienced Executive Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with the Executive Chef to manage and execute high-quality a la carte and banquet services, supervise a dedicated kitchen staff, and contribute to creating an exceptional dining experience for our members. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and skilled culinary professional looking to advance their career in a prestigious, family-oriented club environment.

Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Execute production and service for both a la carte and banquet operations.
  • Supervise a staff of 20+.
  • Commit to offering the finest dining experience in the area.
  • Develop daily and weekly specials demonstrating skill, creativity, and showcasing seasonal ingredients.
  • Maximize hours worked and production time, ensuring efficient use of time and high team output.
  • Proactively manage cleanliness and adhere to food safety standards, training staff to high cleanliness and sanitation standards.
  • Be a hands-on, engaged leader, able to teach, motivate, and develop cooks.
  • Uphold standards of production and execution in the absence of the Executive Chef.
  • Work stations as scheduled and as business demands.
  • Play an integral role in advancing program processes, standards, and culture towards building a dynamic culinary team.
  • Manage inventory and ordering duties.
  • Communicate effectively with dining room staff to educate and assist in their development.
  • Full availability and a flexible schedule are required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Able to work at a rapid pace while maintaining attention to detail; ability to multi-task
  • Prepares and serves food items consistent with Club standards
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-rounded experience, comfortable with cooking a range of dishes
  • An undeniable desire to learn, teach, and grow in their career.
  • Be able to stand/walk for 8 hours; bend, push, pull; lift 30 lbs.

Education and Experience:

  • Two years of experience as a sous chef in a comparable environment
