We currently have an opportunity for a Civil Engineering Technician to join our team in New Albany, IN. The selected candidate will support the Civil/Environmental team with construction phase services, plan production, survey processing and related deliverables for civil infrastructure projects in Indiana.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Works under the direction of civil engineers to process survey data and develop drawings in support of civil environmental department.
  • Assist engineers in preliminary design and layout of sanitary and drainage collection systems.
  • Prepares drawings for engineer review and comment.
  • Prepares figures/exhibits for engineering reports and other preliminary designs.
  • Prepare easement exhibits and property descriptions.
  • Provides construction phase services on INDOT and LPA projects throughout southern Indiana.
  • Reads and interprets construction plans and documents, computes quantities and verifies measurements and layouts.
  • Maintains detailed daily logs, and submits memos and documentation as required.
  • Collaborates with other construction and design staff as needed.
  • Works productively with all project stakeholders to resolve issues in a professional manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • A.S. Degree and 5+ years of civil engineering experience (design and construction) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is desired.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil3D is required; experience with ESRI ArcGIS is preferred.
  • Ability to do simple mathematical calculations involving pipe slope to calculate sewer inverts and depths.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and documents, compute quantities and verify measurements and layouts.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to keep drawing files, daily logs and records in order.
  • Strong computer skills using MS Office products including Microsoft 365
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work productively with all project stakeholders.
  • INDOT Certified Technician, SiteManager and surveying experience is desirable.
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to project sites and work extended hours as needed.
