Job Summary:
As a Wood Industry Sales Manager at Altec, you will play a pivotal role in driving sales growth and fostering strong customer relationships within the veneer and plywood industry across North America. You will be responsible for identifying and capitalizing on sales opportunities, meeting and exceeding revenue targets, and providing exceptional service and support to our valued customers. This role requires a passionate, and driven individual who thrives on the thrill of the hunt, is dedicated to maintaining enduring relationships, and is committed to providing ongoing value to our customers' businesses.
Daily responsibilities may include:
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve company goals and objectives within the veneer and plywood industry.
- Identify and cultivate new business opportunities, including prospecting, lead generation, and networking.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers, serving as a trusted advisor and partner in their business success.
- Conduct ongoing customer needs analysis and research of customer requirements.
- Conduct product demonstrations and presentations to showcase the features and benefits of Altec's innovative technologies.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering and technical support, to ensure customer needs are met and exceeded.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for product enhancements and improvements.
- Prepare and deliver sales forecasts, reports, and analyses to executive management.
- Maintain pricing and profit margin targets in sales orders.
- Travel across North America to customer sites, industry events, and trade shows as required.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Ten years of proven track record of success in industrial equipment sales, preferably within the wood veneer and plywood industry.
- Education and/or experience in engineering is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, scanning, and motion control technologies.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Results-oriented with a strong drive to achieve and exceed sales targets and goals.
- Willingness to travel as needed to meet with customers and attend industry events.
