Role and Responsibilities
- Perform wide variety of record keeping and payroll processing activities for weekly and bi-weekly payrolls including computing wage and overtime payments.
- Administer various employee benefits programs, such as group health, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, and 401(k) benefits. Ensuring compliance is met with all federal, state and local laws
- Process, review and maintain accurate and compliant payroll, federal and state tax records
- Ensure accuracy of automated systems output such as registers and standard reports, determine and correct out of balance condition
- Review, audit and maintain employee benefit, garnishment and census data in payroll and benefit systems. Ensuring all changes are appropriately processed in all systems
- Work with external auditors to verify payroll accuracy, procedures and compliance
- Prepare and reconcile payroll journal and general ledger entries.
- Compile and process data from shop floor system to Excel files to calculate pay for employees for third party provider.
- Serve as payroll and benefits subject matter expert and work with various managers and employees to answer payroll and benefit related questions and correct any payroll discrepancies.
- Work with broker or providers to assist employees with health, dental, life and other related benefit claims.
- Conduct benefits orientations and explain benefits self-enrollment system.
- Verify the calculation of the monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintain statistical data relative to premiums, claims and costs. Resolve administrative problems with the carrier representatives.
- Review and respond to unemployment claims with appropriate documentation.
- Coordinate workers' compensation claims
- Prepare and maintain biweekly/weekly employee reports for finance and other regularly required reporting.
- Maintain and complete benefits reporting requirements and ensure distribution of required employee notices.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager
Education, Training & Skills
- Associates degree within related field, preferred
- Minimum 5 years payroll processing and/or benefit administration
- Knowledgeable on state and federal wage and hour laws and regulations
- Must be able to communicate clearly in writing and verbally
- Must be able to perform multiple duties and complete assigned duties with deadlines
- Proficiency in MS Office with advanced skills in Excel (extensive vlookup, pivot tables)
- Organized, detailed and ability to write procedures in a logical/methodical manner
- Able to maintain confidential information
- Ability to work with moderate supervision
